I cut hansa rose back this year.. it was blooming at the top of seven feet canes, fine for me, but no so great for my wife. She loves the smell of this rose, plus behind it I planted John Davis, the were both the same hieght and it looked odd. Normally do not cut rogusas back, but honestly, it looks soooooooooooooo much better now. the foilage has filled in and you cant tell I hacked it in half, its around 4.5 feet now and the increased light has prompted John Davis to grow up even further. My soon to be 5 yr. old granddaughter was over last week for the day. When I was her age I had to ask to be excused from the table. So good manners are ingrained in me. Unfortunately they aren't being taught at her home. :( I keep a few toys here for the kids to play with, and I bought two little girl dolls about 5" high to go with DGD's My Pretty Ponies. Brand new. She was on the floor playing with the ponies and I brought the new dolls over which she had already looked at when she got here. She took them and THREW them across the room, and said, "No!" DGD is usually well behaved but that threw me for a loop. All day I had to teach her to say, "No thank you." When it came to lunch or snacks, if she didn't want what I was offering she'd say "No!" By the end of the day, she would smile and say "No thank you." lol I've hinted to my DS and DIL that manners need to be taught. In fact, when DGS was born and he was about 3, I bought my DIL a really cute book on how to teach children manners. She thought it was a good book too. I don't think she read it. Before anybody says anything, this was before I noticed manners weren't being taught that much. DIL had a ton of books on child rearing so I thought this would be a good one to add to her collection. But when I'm at their house and one of the kids don't say Please or Thank you, I say something to them immediately in front of their parents hoping they catch a clue. Saying that, they are well behaved but they do lack in manners. Actually, it's the GD that lacks manners, not the GS.

Maybe it’s because I don’t make coffee, but I can’t think of anything I cook that needs a precisely measured amount of water. I’m sure there’s something but obviously it isn’t burdensome enough that I’d need a special faucet. A faucet that requires batteries, which will need replacing and will create a disposal issue for me. I also don’t understand the faucets that automatically dispense water (maybe you touch them? Or they’re motion controlled? I can’t remember.). Sometimes I need cold water to drink, sometimes I need warm water to wash, so how is preset water temperature going to meet all my different needs? It won’t, I’ll be overriding the feature, so why pay for it? But much to the borror of many people here, when I needed a new faucet I was satisfied with the replacement the plumber had on his truck. You’ve got a new one, that works, on the truck? Perfect, let’s go with that.

Ok... since I posted this I’ve eaten several more miho wase and they were absolutely excellent. I think those big ones were a little over-ripe for my taste. The others I’ve eaten have had a little green on them still and they were awesome! I honestly can’t say which I like better now. Jodi, I hope Dave from NVA chimes in because he sent me the little cutting (I sent him an oro blanco). I don’t think he has page mandarins. I’m bummed because I do have a page, but it is the only tree from Harris that has not done well. I bought it years ago and I think the graft is bad because it has slowly deteriorated. I think I’m putting it in the compost pile this winter because the last branch is dying. So bottom line...I highly recommend the miho. My son is visiting from college next weekend and I told him I’d guard a couple for him to try. My youngest daughter stripped the kishu tree ;)
