What’s in Your Clothing and Shoe Care Kit?

I keep a horsehair clothes brush, a lint roller, small scissors (for snipping threads) a sweater comb, a sweater shaver (electric), safety pins and a metal lint remover for woven wool. For shoes there is a long buffing cloth, a cloth for applying leather conditioner, leather conditioning wipes (for lazy), a stiff round brush for dried on mud or sand or stuff stuck in the soles, a softer horsehair brush for suede nap, and an assortment of pens in different shades of brown as well as black to fill in scratches on leather (after which they grt the conditioning cream and buffing).

My remark to Feathers’ about brushing my sneakers made me wonder what everyone else keeps in their closet for wardrobe repair and maintenance. I can replace buttons and sew any small rips or tears, but anything that would show or any hemming or alterations go to a seamstress. I have a steamer and occasionally use that to refresh a garment that doesn’t have wrinkles or need washing, particulary sweaters or wool blazers. The sewing kit and steamer are in our laundry room; I envy the closets that have room for them!
