More Early Signs of Christmas….

Handy Guy and DS2 were each here for a day and we are now (mostly) decorated; I am still trying to zhuzh up the screened porch but that may not happen before the first party.

Byers carolers have pride of place now in the front of the house:

This is a much calmer display than the nutcrackers. I did not put out all the carolers but please note the vintage Salvation Army couple at the right end of the console: these were acquired over the summer through the good offices of our fellow GWer Jsk 😁She was divesting and I got first crack at them— their costumes are amazing! My core caroling group were my mother’s and the rest have been mostly gifts.

The big Fitz and Floyd santa ended up this year on the cocktail table in our sitting room. We elevated him on a stand meant for a Chinese fishbowl, and surrounded him with (empty) presents that took HOURS to wrap. The bottom part of the round hatbox style box I wrapped in ribbon! This display is interesting all the way around; it’s busy and next year if we do this I will use just two or three solid papers and let the ribbons and bows shine.

My phone is almost dead so I will post tree and dining room pictures tomorrow. The outside is also finished with small wreaths on the windows, boxwoods in the urns, pine garland swagging the porch railing and red pillows on the rocking chairs!
