BM Metallic glaze - anyone use this?
Comments (4)Hi. I tried the Home Depot version of metallic glaze in our masterbath. I used the perlescent over a white base. I did a sort of criss/cross pattern with a wide brush. My only advice (besides of course, starting in an inconspicuous space!) is to try to be really consistent in how much glaze is on the brush. I love the look and it's got a beautiful sparkle, but I have some spots that are heavier than others and you can see the strokes in it. In other areas, it's too light. If I could do it over again, I think I would roll it on all over. But I say go for it, it can be a great look....See MoreAnyone use BM Delaware Putty? Still struggling with kitchen ++
Comments (1)I tried a sample of the delaware putty in my north facing LR. Looked like chicken poop :) BUT it could look great in your kitchen. It's a very nice neutral. It look very peachy flesh colored in my house. I laughed at your list. Sounds like mine. I've tried so many colors....Maybe I should send you all my left over sample jars and you send me yours and we can double our efforts! :)...See MoreAnyone use BM Shaker Beige? And does the search function work?
Comments (7)I have just spent the day painting my family room Shaker Beige. I am too tired to post a pic -- right now it is reading yellow to me. I hope it looks different in the morning. I used Regal Matte - and from my experience, it takes a while for this paint to dry true to color. I used a coat of tinted primer, then a coat of Regal Matte, so I am sure none of the gold I was trying to cover up is showing through! I was so glad to see pictures!!! Maybe mine will turn out to be the soft neutral color I am looking for!!!...See MoreAnyone Used BM Nantucket Fog?
Comments (4)I have Nantucket Fog in my downstairs bathroom in an old (1854)cottage cape. When I bought the house 3 years ago from the old woman selling it, it was just starting to fall into disrepair, and was "decorated" in true old lady style. The bathroom was the worst room in the house, complete with several layers of polyester shag wall to wall (Gross!)covering the wood floor painted battleship gray (army surplus?), as were the stairs. There was a tin shower stall, and I was loath to touch the grungy walls, and often bathed upstairs in the clawfoot tub, pouring scoops of water over my head to avoid the shower. My first project was stripping the gray floor, which is now beautiful maple. We replaced the shower stall with a small bathtub, tiled all around with crackle tile, and the walls have beadboard wainscoting with trim about five feet high, painted cream colored to match the tile. Above the beadborad the walls and the ceiling are Nantucket Fog, and it's really a beautiful combination. I first used another lighter blue, but repainted it Nantucket. Maybe three or two years ago, Nantucket was selected as one of the Pottery Barn colors that their designers based various designs and fabric around. It is NOT dark, like the dining room above -- it is surprising that way. But the color is kind of "smoky" (I use for lack of a better word)-- it is not "bright" and primary, the mix is more subtle than that. I LOVE this color. If you try it you will be surprisedat how not-dark it is. I have been surprised that this BM color is rarely discussed on the forums. I never mind being in the minority, but I thought it was curious. lucia...See MoreRelated Professionals
