Comments (5)Thanks linjbo. It's funny how individually we perceive color differently in our spaces. Breezygirl sees no yellow in her Simply White but does in Cloud White. I'm the total opposite. When it comes down to it, we have to trust our own eyes in our own spaces. It is what it is....See MoreHelp needed for warm/cool colors
Comments (15)Twinkle, I wonder if Shaker Beige HC-45 from BenM might be a good chip for you to take a look at. It looks good with BenM's Decorator White and your description of the cabs kind of sounded like Decorator's White to me. I also like Powdered Pebbles from Ellen Kennon - plays well with a lot of other colors. Hard to tell if it's warm or cool or both - it's one of *those* kinds of colors. Two very different beiges/taupes to experiment with. Randita, when you were talking about lilac my first thought was Inspired AF-595 from BenM. I've often wondered why most lilac paint colors look nothing like a real lilac. ??? Inspired does remind me of one of the colors you'd see in a lilac. Gettin' all Mother Nature-y with color reference again. :) I totally agree that there is A LOT to personal color, authentic color. I have been on Jennifer Butler's website eleventy million times. Some day I would LOVE to do something like that for myself. I like the way she talks about color. The inner essence, alignment, authentic self stuff is all right up my ally. This blurb from her site is excellent: "Up to 55% of communication is visual. In order to be seen and heard 100% there must be a congruence between your inner self, your message, and your external presentation." So very fun....See Morecolor dilemma - I like cool colors and dh likes warm colors....
Comments (3)Take into consideration how much and what kind of light you receive in that area. Check out Benjamin Moore's line of paint by visiting their stores. They usually provide lots of visual materials to see their colors. Look in magazines and pick out your dream scheme. That's really the only way to do it. I have an open downstairs and have chosen a BM color called Richmond Gold. Everyone who comes in admires the color and says that they never would have thought to use that color. I found it in Traditional Home Magazine. I dare to use color and I dare you to use it too....See MoreUnder cabinet LED strip lighting warm vs. cool
Comments (2)You could look at setups with both cool and warm light before making the decision. Some prefer having both the UCL and room lighting at the same color temp which in most homes is 2700k. On the other hand, linear fluorescent UCL is usually >= 3500k. I went with cool white (~ 3500k) for the UCL since the backsplash color went better with cool white than warm (2700k) and the UCL is used more often than the room lighting. The color reproduction will depend quite a bit on the Color Rendition Index (CRI) of the light used. With hue changing light strips, it is technically possible to have a color temp range from < 2500k to 5000k. Maybe something to think about as a future upgrade?...See MoreRelated Professionals
