Has anyone installed Diamond cabinets - Gresham Maple ?
Comments (10)The floors are Mohawk Villareal porcelain tile in Almond Spice color. We used porcelain throughout almost the whole kitchen portion of the showroom because it will stand up to traffic well. If this had been a personal home, I'd have done the under tile warming system as I have that in my baths and it's fabulous. The granite and full height backsplash are 3 bookmatched slabs of Yellow River granite. The backsplash is actually 3 different pieces to be able to get it installed correctly, but the seams "flow" across it because of the bookmatching and are almost invisible. The hutch cabinets are Kemper Herrington Square door in Tidal Mist color with applied V-groove sides on it and the island. I painted the walls SW Iviore. The hood package includes the insert with halogen lighting and 900 CFM blower from Kemper and fits like a hand in a glove with no tweaking needed by the installer other than to attach a pigtail and duct and plug it in. I DIY installed Hafele tape lights for the under cabinet lighting, and they are on a dimmer if we need them to be....See MoreAnyone with Wood-Mode antique white painted maple?
Comments (2)@sewingsher....thanks for responding! A few weeks after my original post, I ended up ordering the Wood-Mode antique white Barcelona door, but with an espresso glaze. That was the only way to achieve the very creamy, not white look I wanted to make things blend with the adjacent dining room. My sample door (the third I had to order!!) is just perfect in the surroundings, and I am very pleased with it. There are lots of moldings, and I ordered the "cove-like" drawers. Re: your Q on countertop selection--Although AB granite had been my first choice last summer, before I settled on Wood-Mode even, my eyes were opened from comments on this forum about the high levels of maintenance deemed necessary for AB, honed or not. Fingerprints, etc. So that idea went bye-bye months ago. After many, many visits to granite yards and tile shops, I came to the conclusion in the past week that what really, really works for me is (gasp) wood, specifically Black Walnut, treated with Waterlox (I think that's it). The dark wood perfectly picks up the glazing details in that ornate door. For the backsplash, I've found the PERFECT (if highly unaffordable) hand-made "molded clay" duotoned tile in a sort of Arabesque pattern, in relatively high relief. It's made by Architerra out of Austin, Texas, I think. The two colors are copper and cumin, making it a rich antique-looking chocolate. Yummy! I have an electronic picture of these three things all together, but have never posted a photo because I don't know how. Wish I could, it's spectaular. If my surroundings would have accommodated the antique white without the glazing, I think I would have gone with soapstone. Have you investigated that? It would be gorgeous. Which door did you pick? When is the install? My demo is scheduled to start February 2....See MoreOur Wood-Mode cabinet order: what else should I be thinking of?
Comments (10)In your shoes ... knowing I am likely facing cost and time over-runs on the project ... I would ask myself what it's worth to have a better functioning temporary kitchen now. If you need quality and you need it fast, the rule of thumb is that you will pay extra for it. But if you can improve your temporary situation to the point you don't feel like you have to rush then you can remove rush charges (and probably save yourself some mistakes along the way). So - do you still have a working dishwasher & sink? Can you get them back if they were removed? Of course, all of this is assuming you didn't have to pay a deposit to WoodMode - if you did then my first concern would be getting that money back. If you paid something to the KD to send to WoodMode, it's reasonable to ask "I paid a $10k deposit and I would like to see information about how much of that deposit was your commission versus what was sent to WoodMode." I'm sorry this is happening to so many people right now, it is so much money at stake....See MoreShiloh Cabinetry - Inset vs. Full Overlay? Who has them?
Comments (41)I'm looking at white oak with one of the lighter grey stains @MA Scag - I would not have the beautiful white oak and then put a grey stain on it. You might as well then not spend the money for white oak. The whole point of spending extra on white oak is due to its appearance. Remove the grey stain from your choice. Or, if you really want grey cabinetry, then don't get white oak and instead choose one of the painted grey finishes. See @Sammy's comment above which has a link to @Suzanne Brown's beautiful Shiloh kitchen with grey painted cabinets....See MoreRelated Professionals
