Help with a tv console under mounted tv
Comments (3)Hi Judy! No it’s not, just a town home built in 2012 and they did do a nice job framing the windows :) And yes those are the furniture pieces & rug we have coming! Here are some additional photos that wouldn’t fit in original post of kitchen, rest of room (ignore ugly brown couch, were throwing out)...See MoreTv mount under Vent
Comments (10)@Elmer J Fudd, I certainly hope you wouldn't gut your house for a tv mount, but that's your prerogative. And you wouldn't be able to connect the new oval to the branch above or below it without some major access to get the work done. And unless there are open gaps under the drywall (usually an HVAC tech will put an 'L' piece of sheetmetal at the floor during rough-in of the return cavities), there is no new dust or debris, beyond the sawdust that was sitting within the cavity from cutting the hole in the bottom plate/subfloor or top plate, to be sucked into the return duct (which the cfm is not strong enough to lift the sawdust anyway). Whether it is not the best method to use open cavities has no bearing on this OP trying to get their tv mounted. And to throw you a bone, if there were a duct in a wall, and a lag bolt went through it instead of the stud, it would still not affect the return or allow extra "dust" into the return - at least until the tv falls off the wall and pulls out the lag bolt. And we, yes you included, use pictures that OP's provide to communicate their issue that we advise on all the time. If the OP is trying to diffuse a bomb, a picture might not be adequate, for a tv mount the one provided will do. I didn't realize you were one to argue moot points like some others do so often....See MoreCentre TV under bulkhead
Comments (10)How high is the ceiling going to be once the bulkhead is covered in drywall? I assume since it's being built now it will be tall enough. Did you want to have the TV over the fireplace? It's approx. 15' square in the area with the "X"? I have a 14' square area in my basement with a large TV and two sofas. As you can see in the picture below a sectional is another option. You would definitely want to center it on that wall and if that means it's centered under the bulkhead so much the bettter....See MoreLength of furniture for under TV
Comments (20)I just bought a credenza similar to the one ffpalms posted. It was only 55” wide, black (but they have different colors) from wayfair, $700 on sale. It is not designed to support the weight of the TV which is wall-mounted with a swivel. It’s actually a sideboard. I got that rounded style to blend it into a corner. It looks great (considering it is in a corner - I have plans to make it more seamless). The sliding doors are not ideal. It extends about 3” to each side of my 55” TV. A 65” TV would be too big. I have to come up with a plan for the cords. If you got something like this, ideally the TV would be no longer than the length of the perfect rectangle that fits within the oval top. (It’s actually a rectangle with completely rounded sides. There is storage available only in the middle part.) You would probably be better off with something rectangular that fits, then build up the entire wall as a TV wall. Unless there is an issue with traffic flow or if you want to put something different next to that shorter adjacent bookcase. If you do plan to keep that bookcase, I would find something that mimicks it closely for the TV wall. Either match them, or do something very different, or design both to work together....See MoreRelated Professionals
