Carol, that plant came from a pasture in full sun. Most of our photos are taken along back roads where we take our morning walks. We combine that with wildflower hunting for fun, since we're relatively new to this area. All of the plants that I post are from Saline county, AR. I should note that I tend to call anything that blooms a wildflower - can be confusing. Since I hadn't received any responses, I sent those photos to a Botanist for review. He replied this evening and said that specimen was Euphorbia corollata (Flowering Spurge). It appears that the plant tops were likely grazed by deer, which made identification more difficult. I'm also used to seeing that species with green flower centers, instead of yellow. In any case, he was confident of the i.d. Thank you so much for your interest and persistence. Jim

It is Lobularia maritima, sweet alyssum. Although not native, it is often included in "wildflower mixes". If you shear it back by half, it will bloom again, if a freeze doesn't get it. In my climate, it is an eager self-sower; one of those once you have it, you can't lose it plants. Here is a link that might be useful: Lobularia maritima, sweet alyssum

Ok i have a petite pink drift knockout.. which after replanting to a pot developed a similar sounding problem…first off i realized pot was not draining well so took it out of the pot washed off roots and repotted with new soil. trimmed the branches that had curling leaves back, used Bayer 3 in one fertilizer, antifungal, insecticide granules and worked into soil around base and watered from under foliage. repeated again this season and noticed same with curling leaves and shimmery white coating as well. i cut it back leaving only healthy clear stems and leaves..removed all debris off soil and bagged and tossed. reapplied Bayer and its looking much better. I’ll give it one more season before I rip it out! 😂👍

Jill, I'm so glad that Malissa came out to help you. I became interested in Missouri natives in 1986. I was an hourly employee for MDC and a forester (now retired) was pretty knowledgeable about native plants which peaked my interest. I bought a copy of Denison's "Missouri Wildflowers" and became absolutely addicted. In 1987 I moved here and was able to observe a lot of plants in their natural setting. We have 40 acres in some pretty rugged Ozark deep draws and dry ridges. It's oak/hickory forests and is extremely rocky (car size boulders). I started growing natives and learning about seed collecting, etc. Over the years, we've noticed that our dry ridge with its accompanying draws has become more lush, the soil is better and the increase in species of birds is amazing. Along the way, I've had a lot of support from professionals at MDC. For the most part, these people are doing what they love and are dedicated to the resource. This forum is a great source of knowledge for natives. Somebody here knows the answer to about any question you might have. Keep in touch about your place and have fun!
