Need Door Solution for Laundry/Storage area in kitchen
Comments (24)Chispa-I did look on Houzz, but I didn't see that particular photo for some reason. Thanks for posting it. I showed it to the cabinet maker, so we will see. I am not crazy about the slat doors, although I realize they are necessary for venting purposes. Hartwood, Fori, Maggie-I think I am going to end up with them sidexside under counter. I'm not sure if I'm going to have pocket doors built for them, since I suspect they will be left open most of the time anyway. Mags438-What E'Lux set are you considering? I went to Best Buy yesterday and they all seemed to be the same depth, although I did not have a measuring tape with me. The shallower depth would be wonderful, since I have to buy an extra deep counter. I'm planning on doing walnut, I think. So here is the rendering I did of the sxs next to a storage closet. Sorry it looks like it was done by a 7 year old, my PS skills are about at that level. There is a fireplace on that brick wall, I just couldn't find an internet photo similar....See MoreNeed help with my washer vibrating on my second story laundry room
Comments (109)so i called lowes and mentioned the scratch and they offered me 15% off or a new machine. i took the 15% off...i don't know if they could have even ordered another one for me but i def wasn't going through another delivery process just bec of a scratch on the machine. i'm very happy with the 15% off. then i called the 3rd party delivery co's guy i had been dealing with all along...(way back i asked abt compensation for the hassle from lowes they said its the delivery company's responsibility so at the time i asked this guy i was dealing with and he said he def would be giving me something.) so i called and asked for compensation he said he'll get back to me...that he has to speak to lowes etc so i mentioned that i got the 15% from lowes for the scratch bec i never mentioned the scratch to him so i didnt' want him to be confused. and told him that when i asked lowes abt compensation for the hassle they said the delivery co is responsible. anyway he called back and offered $75 in lowes gift cards. I tried saying its so little, i'm getting that much back for a scratch and this was a huge hassle and totally avoidable had the delivery guys not dumped the machine and ran...if they would've just read the instructions they could have done it properly, and then on top of it they lost the feet etc that it was not a mistake, it was laziness and negligence etc...but he still said all he can do was $75 so i said fine... lol so assuming the above comes through it will cost me $356! still would not want the hassle of the feet, not worth the aggravation but the scratch is prob worth it ;) on a side note, when i called the delivery guy i've been dealing with extensivley, i introduced myself saying "hi, i'm the lady with the rubber feet" haha...See MoreNeed help with Laundry/Mud Room set up
Comments (0)Hello! Looking for creative solutions to maximize storage in our laundry/mudroom. Plumbing/electrical is already roughed in, so the washer and dryer stay. The door at the "top" comes from the back porch. Pocket door feeds to the kitchen. Electric panel is on the wall behind the exterior door. I'm left with about 4' wide of floor to (9') ceiling wall space next to dryer. Washer is top-loader, so will need clearance above to open. Things I'd like: storage for broom, mop, maybe vacuum, storage for detergent and cleaning supplies, rod to hang clothes, either/both countertop for folding laundry or/and seat for putting on shoes. Suppose you could add some sort of shelving/cabinets on the wall directly across from the exterior door. Overall, my style is open, airy, transitional, so I'm not a huge fan of bulky pieces (but could live with it). Thanks for any input!...See MoreNeed help with Laundry/Mud Room set up
Comments (15)Sorry about the long vent from dryer to porch. Sorry people have to trail through your laundry area. If you want a door between this and the kitchen, why can't it swing back against the wall (bottom of your plan)? Will you be bringing groceries in this door? I'd prefer wider doorways. How will you get appliances into this space? A closet can hold 'things' (mops, vacuum, etc.) and have a rod for drip-dries -- even coats. Making a separate 'compartment' for everything limits use of space. What's on the wall that abuts the kitchen? Coat hooks?...See MoreRelated Professionals
