Replacing a 60/40 undermount sink with a single bowl.
I have a 20 year old 60/40 sink. I have to replace the faucet so figured maybe replacing the old sink as well. I would like to go with Blanco Silgranit Cinder color (or something similar). I would like to go from a 2 Bowl to a Single Bowl (or a low profile if that is only option). I'd prefer undermount as I have it now, but can do drop-in if best option. I'd prefer to not alter the granite at all but can, however, I don't have a lot of room to the backsplash (2 1/2" on left side - 5 1/4" on right side where existing faucets are). I'm guess I need to be concerned about how the main faucet hole lines up? I would go down to a single faucet with spray but also keep the drinking water faucet (far right). Plumbing distributor gave me a couple of sinks to try but said for plumber to confirm. Plumber said Distributor should confirm. 2nd plumber said to talk to granite guy. Granite company said talk to Plubming distributor. I'm going in circles. I don't care if there is a lip from the dual mount sink on the back side showing to fill up the granite hole on the left side. Can use as a shelf/lip. I've included specification pictures of 4 options on left side. My current sink 510-888 Blanco Silgranit Kitchen Sink is repeated on right side.

Comments (3)The only low-divide I see on the Galaxy site is a 50/50. I would call the 866 toll-free number and ask. They were helpful when I called them two years ago. Comments (38)The faucet and dispenser holes are filled with scraps from the cut-out. This is a job I did last week; removing a failed polyester bowl from a polyester solid surface top and replacing it with a stainless steel sink. No countertops were removed in the process. It isn't that much different with stone, the trick is making sure the footprint of the replacement is identical to or larger than that of the original. I've had budget-conscious clients that didn't care that the negative reveals were off on their replacement sinks in stone. Sink, faucet, soap dispenser, and disposal replacement, plumbing, top refinish and cleanup (ooo..it's messy) just over 3K. That's a Mirabelle sink made in Vietnam. Comments (5)Update: I managed to get it out by going are the inside lip of the sink with a Bosch Multitool with the carbide grout removal blade. The blade goes deep enough that it'll get through the whole lip (about an inch). It took about 45 minutes per bowl to gradually plunge-cut around each. One thing to note is that I wore through 3 blades at around $40 each. Then I took a heavy-duty retractable blade and ran it in the gap until all of the silicone was cut. PRO2 months agoYou can undermount any of the 33" sinks without changing the cutout, but it's not going to look the best. It will be the easiest:
Don't bother unscrewing the clips holding the sink in place; beat it out with a hammer. You'll mount the new sink with straps, not clips. Hercules Universal Sink Harness (for the LIven) or a couple Sink Straps (for the Blanco). When the faucet holes don't align, you'll drill through the existing holes and through the new sink faucet deck. If you've got too many holes, get a disposal button to fill one please. It is unlikely that either sink will dunk, so you'll have to tap off your cabinet front to get the new sink in place. Mount the straps, insert the sink, put the front back on, silicone the flange, clamp the sink, tighten the straps, and remove the clamp.
It's not too difficult to cut the stone and top mount either sink. That eliminates the faucet hole problems:
The best is to cut a new cutout and undermount the new sink. Now it's undermounted, the reveals are perfect, and no faucet hole problems.
The last option is in the advanced class, an intermediate DIYer could handle the first two. Never touch anything plumbing related without verifying and testing the main water shutoff please. Don't ask me how I learned this.

I'm definitely not doing this myself, but trying to show and direct who I hire as there is no one-stop shop like you here in Nebraska who knows "what is possible" or "what is best".

The more I think about this..... I really need to cut the granite as I have too many faucet holes to plug..... Going down from 4 to 1..... plus the drinking water. So guessing this is the best option for the undermount and have my two holes on the back part - 1 faucet. 1 drinking water. Cleaner look. So the LIVEN might be the best option. The other Dual Mount is 1/2" wider.
