Fort Porch Posts... Stay or Go?

I have a pressing question that I would love input on. We are redoing our front porch entirely, new siding, windows, porch ceiling, ect...the whole thing. We currently have 4 posts but upon demolition it was found that the load carrying beam across the porch is actually rated to carry the weight of the entire porch and the two posts in the middle were for decoration only. We have been presented with the idea of leaving them off and only having the two at the end. I LOVE the idea of a wide open porch but it looks a little funny..like it's missing something. I am not sure if it's because we are just used to 4 or if it's because the porch is torn up looks terrible so who can really tell anything?! I would love your thoughts. My husband is fine either way but did mention that having posts will allow a place for the stair handrails to dead end into. We are not planning on having railings across the porch, the planting beds will be raised slightly so that it will meet code for having a drop.
