I agree that you need to build them spaced the distance that works best for you. Having had raised beds spaced close together - you know the challenges that spacing causes. We love our spacing - because we spaced them for our needs. our beds are 4'x16' - 12" high (we have 6 of them) and we spaced them 4' apart. I like to kneel on the grass to work in the beds and 4' gives me plenty of room to do that. As important - 4' spacing is enough room for our zero-turn lawn mower to cut the grass. Many gardeners don't like grass between the beds - but I love it. It is clean - pleasant to look at - and easy to maintain. I prefer grass over gravel or concrete/pavers - but that is just our preference. I do not have a problem with the grass growing up in the raised bed but I also weed-eat around them regularly. We placed the 4x4 support posts inside the bed for clean lines on the outside of the bed. We also placed a 2x6 seat board on top of the 4x4's and edge of the bed - we love that feature! I can see I need to take some photos of our raised beds during the summer that show better how they look now with grass instead of dirt & snow - but these photos should give you an idea of what we have done. I have done something similar at the family cottage. After trying different materials I came to the conclution that a strong wire was least visible solution. I found a type that looked strong enough, and covered with a type of vinyl or plastic that prevent any rust (there was green and white to choose from). I streched two wires across the wooden poles, as tight as I could. It sagged a bit after a few months, but after one more tightening it has held up fine. My roses are now after four years just beginning to grow horizontally along the wire. Albertine was a bit slow to start, but Climbing Etoile de Hollande was over 6 feet tall third year, even with pruning and bending the canes horizontally to make it branch out.

Have you considered extending the forward facing gable above the entry as a part of an actual portico roof with cedar posts. Then there is a porch as a pergola. https://www.trouveshome.com/the-necessity-of-bringing-back-front-porches/ Whatever you add on the ground, you need to take into account that your driveway is literally going to be against it. Instead of trying to keep a dirt/green space between driveway and porch, you could actually be better served, for safety sake, to create a raised concrete floor to create a curb between the driveway and house from that angled left wing all the way to the right wing of the house all the way to the right side of the house ... the beginning of a raised sidewalk that could lead you elsewhere. You could always set lined cedar planter boxes atop that. You could then widen the turn around/parking space to the right of the house either with more paving or use thick concrete on a properly packed base to outline the space with a "sidewalk" ... that could lead to other areas -- a patio and/or play area and/or a flower bed/bird bath, etc. The person that made the decision to put the driveway that close to the house did your family no favors.
