Suggestions for wall color to go well with brown accent wall??
Comments (0)First time poster here! I've been learning and grabing all sorts of suggestions from all of you on this website since buying my first home! I'm now trying to make this home my own and give it some color. I went out on a bit of a limb and chose a brown for an accent wall (BM Fresh Brew, a rich brown with a definate red undertone). Now...to choose the right paint for the other walls. Eek! I had thought I wanted a yellowy-beige, but now I'm wondering if that's the way to go? My palette is definately more on the warm side. My front room is a great rusty orange (SW Armagnac) and the rug in there has lots of tan, yellow, green, red (Pottery Barn "Adeline" rug http://www.potterybarn.com/products/adeline-rug-multi/?pkey=crugs-blue-green) I've been looking at SW Ivoire, SW Row House Tan, Pratt & Lambert Indian Ivory, SW Croissant, BM Pittsfield Buff...there are so many colors out there it's exhilarating, yet overwhelming. Any suggestions would be so welcomed! Here's my accent wall. New fireplace mantel will be same color as trim (walls now are a medium beige) Image link:...See MoreDifferent white wall colors be used as accent wall in a white room?
Comments (5)The modern farmhouse trend of white shiplap feature walls sounds like a version of what you are asking for. Not recommending shiplap, as that was done to death, but it would give you a sense of the effect of different texture/same color. I think texture (or wallpaper) would work better than color, because the way you see color varies from wall to wall with the light. So the difference in paint colors would need to be different enough for it to look like more than that normal variation in how the same color looks on different walls of a room. I'm not sure if you can get enough contrast with whites. Maybe if your definition of white includes sufficiently off whites. Something like white grasscloth wallpaper could be a nice accent. Or a paintable textured wallpaper....See MoreShoji white walls with bold accent wall: color for trim and ceiling?
Comments (2)Hi sorry no one has answered yet, did you go through with anything yet? I think it’s not easy giving advice on white without being there in person. However, there can be some clues like lighting conditions / direction of window facing, uou said you are using terracotta, so you can find something with an orange, red or yellow undertone in it and avoid anything with blue or green… unless you want it to stick out. I think you getting samples is a great idea. I found light colors arent easy because it can have indertones that you might or might not expect to show up & can look dofferent from room to room. Shoji white I think has green undertones, but depending on the light snd surroundings, it can look different. you can see how you like it and maybe play with some color cards on the fsn deck first and look at the darker version on each to see what undertones are at play, but thats just the start. Do update when your finished!...See MorePaint all walls gray or just an accent wall?
Comments (11)You have no wall to accent. Every wall has something on it, an accent wall should be solid. I don't think your furniture goes with a blue/green ikat style rug. Post a picture of the rug. NO gray walls. Gray will not complement your floor and cabinets....See MoreRelated Professionals
