Put up cement siding matching the width of the existing, paint everything to match. Put on the shutters (though the red is really strong but I live in the south where everyone does black)

You mean put cement siding on the new area? also, do you think the shutters will be too close together on the two windows closest to the end? we kept the red because as you mentioned everyone in our neighborhood has black.

Also, we’re not soo concerned about the siding matching, because it was placed right before we purchased the home, but we’re worries about the trim surrounding the windows. if you look to the left the trim around the original windows are lighter in color (i think the paint faded) but the trim around the new windows is a bit fresher looking. we thought about having the trim around the new windows painted, but apptently they cant be.

Add the same type of siding to the addition paint it all the same color and I dislike shutters so I would remove them all but you need to add them to the addition if you must have them to make the addition look like it has always been there Not sure what you mean by the trim can't be painter all the trim should be the same color for sure

Would you do a different color shutter? regarding the trim- around the older windows appears lighter than around the newer windows. our contractor told is he wpuldnt advise painting, the color difference is a result of age.

We also dont love the burghendy color shutters either, but because the previous owners choose a beige on beige house we feel like we need the color to create some contrast- many of our neighbors have black, so we dont want that, but we’re open to color suggestions

I would want to tone down any contrast that hightlighted the differences so I’d get the siding as close to the main body as possible (identical if I could even if it cost more $$$ to do so) — then looking at the brown roof, I’d be tempted to paint the home a classic cream with white windows - and then a bright door, maybe blue? I’d prob leave off the shutters to see what I thought before deciding (that decision can wait) - I’d also plant a nice ornamental tree between the widely spaced windows on the addition

Thanks for your comment! we did decide to move a pretty mature limelight hydrangrea tree that we currently have into the space between the windows! i love the picture you posted, but unfortunately painting our entite house is not an option as we’ve already spent a decent amount of money on this project. do you think we should keep the shutters or remove? we thought about just removing them from the entire bottom of the house and keeping on top or just keep them on?

Can you remove them when the addition is done and see what you think? Personally I would lean toward removing them but I like a super simple facade

We are planning on waiting u til the addition is complete before we fully decide. Right now we’re leaning towards not having shutters on the entire lower portion of the house or no shutters on the addition windows??

Whatever you decide to do 86 the maroon leaning to magenta color on the shutters. It's ghastly. Select a color that doesn't say "LOOK AT ME, LOOK AT ME".

Thanks for your suggestion- we dont really like the green, but we have considered some other warm colors that would fit in nicely and allow us to keep the door its current marron- we actually like it on the front door.

Navy blue shutters would look great with your siding.

Well, I didnt choose the color of the door or the house for that matter, and we are not having it painted as it is fairly new. keeping that in mind, are options are to change the shutter colors to something that works with the door or remove the shutters all together. also, based on the color grids youve posted and warm tone color wheels found online the current colors DO work together. i understand that you obviously dont like it- quite honestly im not a huge fan of it either, but we are not changing the color of the door.

Also, the lighting in this picture is really changing the appearence of the ”magenta” its more burgundy
