Did you ever get a response? What did you decide to go with? We installed GAF HD Timberline Barkwood shingles on our roof, but we haven't moved in yet, so no way to review. I love that color but we don't know about the color choices you were choosing from. I wonder if I should've gone with OC, if it's a better quality product.

"patchwork like" is because the companies use what is called a blend. It helps the shingles "blend" together so different bundles, pallets and manufacturing runs all look similar and you do not end up with a wide variety of colors or "patches" if you will. All companies that I am aware of in this day and age use blends. In the days before they all used blends it was quite common to see a roof with 3 of more distinct color differences due to this issue and because of this the pallets were all marked with big red stickers saying not to mix different batch or run numbers together.

A charcoal roof is definitely a great idea. It will look fantastic with the brick. For the gutters, fascia, and trim, you've got a few options—depending on what appeals to you most. White/off white would be the most traditional for gutters, trim and fascia. Using a gray, everywhere, like the gray on the windows of your front porch, will give everything a more updated and sleek look. Or, you could do your gutters and fascia one color, and do all your window trim in black or another color. I would recommend repainting your fascia to match whatever color gutters you choose (and I'd use the same color for the downspout). And I'd also recommend painting all your window trim the same color. I personally really like the gray trim with the black you've got going on with the front porch windows. I'd carry that look to all the other windows on the house. Here's a little sampling of each of those looks, plus a color combination or two you may not have considered.
