I was on a hike near the Santa Cruz Mountain foothills here in Northern California. I was actually taking pictures of mushrooms when I found that growing up from the dirt in the shape of a cone. Perhaps it was something that was chopped down? I have no clue.

Weird.. No bird feeder. I suppose it could have been carried by a bird from a neighbor and dropped. I shall pull it up. Thanks!

Sorry, I have never seen this before. Have you actually touched this plant? Call me crazy, but it looks like plastic from here. Something about how flat & one dimensional those leaves look, no shine, no changing color on the leaves.
