Need track/pendant lighting over huge island, suggestions? PICS
Comments (7)We used hanging pendants made by Roost. They only sell to wholesalers who then retail them. We bought ours locally, via our builder, from a design center so got a deal. Don't know hwat you can find in your area, but I have provided an online link below. We also used the Edison-reproduction, multi-filament bulbs they show in the pic. They are about 11 bucks each w/ shipping, but look waaaaaaay cool, esp. when dimmed, and provide all the light you need when at full power. If you go that way, order some spares. We have not had a burnout in 4 years, but we do not use them daily. Also, we did not want a track sitting across our ceiling to steal the eye away from the task lighting hanging below. There is seating for 3 on the right side of the L. Here is a link that might be useful: Roost retailer link...See Morependant lights yeah or no way
Comments (19)Oh my I see this has been rejuvenated! I ended up with another thread because I kept finding potential lights. It's funny because the one luckytiff liked, I did like but no one else seemed to think it belonged... I ended up ordering this one about a month ago and of course, it is out of stock everywhere, but will be shipped in mid april which is now not so far away. As for the height, they will be over the island only, and I plan to hang them on the high side.(if I remember correctly, they should typically be between 30-40" from the countertop. mine will be that but towards the higher spectrum)...See Moreremodel advice for counters, backsplash, pendant lights
Comments (4)Sorry it took me a while to get back..was out of town. The paint in the dining room is a soft white, not bright, more like a vanilla. Here is the floor. The floor in the dining room is hardwood oak. Also, I think I might like these for over the counter lights. See the link below. Or these - see this link. http://www.restorationhardware.com/catalog/product/product.jsp?productId=prod1870136&cm_ps=modal_add_to_cart-_-none-_-other_items_you_may_like&categoryId=cat1701013 Here is a link that might be useful: possible light...See MoreOff center DR pendant light - What to do?
Comments (26)Thank you all so much for your thoughts. I do need to keep the sideboard where it is. However, I forgot to mention that I will be painting it the same colour as the wall, and will be back painting the glass in the doors to hided the stuff inside. The room will look less cramped and busy. I tried moving the table to be centered under the light, and taking away the end chairs to do so. It looks quite crammed down at one end of the area when I do that. So I don't think I will do that. In reading your comments, I am reminded that I need to keep access to the current location (per my original electrician). So I will need to cover with an electrical plate, and not patch it to cover over. I think I will pay to have it moved in order to keep the simple, clean minimalist lines of the light fixture....See MoreRelated Professionals
