Cellular or Roman shaded?
Comments (7)I think room darkening cellular shades work the best for blocking out light. They're still one of the best selling treatments in the 21st century. Roman shades with a black out liner are a close 2nd. If you use romans I would make them flat romans but have to be careul not to clash fabric with the drapes. here's a pic of an IM cellular. Notice light coming through at the sides. Panels will take care of that. Otherwise if they were OM less light would come through. Comments (2)I have cellular blinds that meet all your criteria. They are Hunter Douglas with the cordless feature. They have lasted more than ten years and require minimal cleaning, except vacuuming, which in all honesty, I rarely do. Once in awhile a spider will crawl in one of the cells, but they seems to eventually disappear. I have some that are the top down, bottom up type, which is handy for my situation. The price will depend on the size of the window. I got them from a local window treatment shop but I think they are sold by Home Depot.I trust my local guy yo come out and measure and then install them. When I got a new window and the blinds were too wide, he sent them back to have them recut for no charge....See MoreOutside mount Roller Shade WITH inside mount 2" wood blinds??
Comments (10)@lizbeth-gardener, yes, you're right. However, I'm thinking that the surface is smaller than drapes and easier to vacuum. I can use a hair dryer or compressed air can to blow the dust out of the cell insides, wait 10 minutes for the dust to settle, then vacuum the floor. I went to a couple of stores today, including Hunter Douglas, to look as shades, valances, etc. Ugh. Not pretty. Not happy. I guess I might start looking at washable curtains...or maybe consider buying a steam cleaner so I can regularly steam clean (steam kills dust mites) non-washable drapes on a regular basis....See MoreRelated Professionals
