Great idea! Do you think it will make the wall look too bare then? It is a pretty large wall and I’m a bit concerned that will look too plain. Thoughts?

I don’t think it will look bare. You can choose a lovely fabric in the shades so that when they reveal the windows, you will have a little color there, and when they are in full view you will get color and texture. You can also put art items above windows as well.

That's a nice dining space you have. The current drapes are too narrow and too short. If you choose to go with new drapery, mount the rod higher above the window. Ikea has nice drapery at good prices. Your current room is beautiful as is. Fresh light color paint and new window treatment or drapery will look even better. If you have not chosen a paint color, I would suggest you look at BM Ballet White or Swiss Coffee. You could leave the wood trim alone or you could paint it the same color as the new wall color (only use a semi-gloss sheen on the trim). Consider eggshell sheen for the walls.

Thank you! We went with Modern Grey from Sherwin Williams. I’m still not sure what to do with the window treatments but I removed the old ones for now. It looks much better already.

I like it! I'd skip the window coverings and consider painting the screen frames white so they blend in with the windows.

I agree that shades are the best and, personally, I love the clean and uncluttered look of the wall without the curtains! I hate froufrou and clutter! and love open space, even on a wall.

Looks great! I would love a nice big beautiful outdoor yard like you have. I'd leave the windows uncovered for now. If you feel the need for some covering in the spring or summer (when the sun is at a different angle and stronger), you can be prepared to try out shades (or use drapery).

You don't say if the window treatments are for sun control or privacy control. But bare windows are trending big time in high-end design.

I don't see space for inside mount shades for your windows. There's always window film made for sunlight reduction if need be.

I think the room looks great as is in your new photo.

Remove the table cloth, its distracting, and competing with the curtains, it might help you decide, it also might show you they are fine the way they are.

Celluar shades with frame will be a great choice. only 0.6mm deepth required for installation. will be much help for pravicy and heat control.
