Comments (11)NanaJayne---you forgot me! I'm your new Grand child --- oh please-please??? You are the Best Nana ever!!! These are incredibly nice quilts that your Grands are going to cherish forever. How do you decide who gets which one? My 2 favorites are Bitter Sweet (which looks like Butter Scotch to me) and Island Chain (perfect selections for the borders). You have outdone yourself this year! Now you can relax and enjoy the holidays....See MoreDecorating Christmas Tree with Ribbons
Comments (32)Don't know if any of these photos will help. These are three trees I decorated for a client a few weeks ago. Unfortunately, my photos are horrid as her house was still in shambles and I couldn't really get the images I wanted without tons of clutter in the way. Terriks I feel better now about avoiding all the mess. Anyway, For the first tree I just wrapped and tucked the wide deco mesh. The second, I used a narrow more delicate mesh and two wired ribbons. I started at the top and just draped the ribbons down, gathered and wrapped, and on every other wrap I would make a bow (just loop and wrap with branch or wire) and then drap down. For the center draping I did make a larger bow towards the center. The little tree I did the same technique as the second tree. You can also go back with any extra ribbon and tuck in a few tails or streamers where you've tucked your ribbon on the tree. This will help with a wispy look. Give the tails a gentle or tight curl (a can is a useful tool if you can't do with your hands.) Or don't worry about draping your ribbon like a garland and just make loops and tails and tuck all around the tree. I hope this makes sense....See MoreDaughter's Christmas Quilt

Comments (17)Sulky Solvy is a water soluble stabilizer I use clear. https://www.sulky.com/catalog/sub/stabilizer/wash-away/solvy FMQ – free motion quilting In this case, I set my machine up as for quilting but with embroidery thread, embroidery needle (and the obligatory hopping foot with feed dogs down). I use the regular straight stitch for outlining letters, a satin stitch for filling in the solid letters and s.l.o.o.o.w.l.y trace everything. Calls for great concentration and I usually end up with my jaw aching from holding it too tensely. Last thing I do is wash the quilt. The Solvy washes away and I can repair any oops before I give it away....See MoreRelated Professionals
