Master Bath: would you refresh or remodel?
Comments (8)I rember wanting to change my kitchen and one of my baths first thing after moving in. In retrospect I am so glad the funds were not than available for after living with them for a year I was really able to see what worked and what did not and I ended up doing things a lot better than they would have been done in the first few months. I avoided costly mistakes by waiting. I did instantly strip wall paper and change paint colors in all my rooms and that helped me live happily for over a year before than fixing things that still did not work for us. clean and refreshed make it more your own by changing colors and adding some art for now and really figure out what does not work function wise for a year or so than begin the expensive tear out redo work. congrats on your new digs!...See MoreHi, Remodel on a master bath ideas, thanks!
Comments (11)My 3x5 shower with proper waterproofing, tile , fixtures, doors and labor cost more than your budget. And mine is not an upscale bath at all. Your budget does not allow for good workmanship and reconfiguring. A refresh of floor tile, fixtures and vanity are within your budget not a total redo. If someone says they can do what you want for that money be very skeptical....See MoreMaster Bath Layout Ideas Please!
Comments (8)2x4 Studs are 1 1/2" x 3 1/2". Gypsum board used for interior walls are generally 1/2" thick. Interior walls are usually made if a stud (3 1/2") + a layer of gypsum board on each side (1/2" + 1/2") = 4 1/2". IF your drafter is dimensioning to the face of the stud, they are wrong. If they are dimensioning to the face of the gypsum board they are wrong. Somewhere there is 1/2" missing per wall. This might not be a problem . . . but it might be a problem. Either your builder is extremely frustrated or he is a saint and he is making the adjustments in the dimensions needed to keep you out of trouble. That is my expert knowledge.
