Comments (8)Hey, Greg! You've gotten some good advice already. I'm concerned about the nutrients, as well. Fish Emulsion is a good fertilizer for outdoor plants, plants in larger containers or raised beds, and for plants growing in-ground. Fish Emulsion needs to be broken down by micro-organisms in the soil to become available for the plant's use; and so, when temperature or moisture levels don't support those populations of microbes, et cetera, the Fish Emulsion isn't broken down and the plant doesn't get those nutrients in a regular, consistent dose. Further, with certain Fish Emulsion, if the soil temps are too low, the unprocessed Emulsion can lead to potential ammonia toxicity in the soil. That's why I only use it when soil/mix temps are above 50F during the primary outdoor growing season. The key to a great fertilizer is inclusion of micro-nutrients and nutrient ratios. Miracle Grow works well in the 3:1:2 ratio (such as 12-4-8 NPK), but will typically lack proper Calcium and Magnesium. Other citrus fertilizers may offer a 5:1:3 ratio, which would also work well, as long as the micro-nutrients are also covered. Meyer Mike and I happen to use Foliage Pro 9-3-6, which contains everything, and we also adjust tapwater pH with vinegar. Just to cover all bases....you did add Lime in your 5-1-1 mix, yes? Comments (2)Your best bet is to visit your local electrical supply house and see if they carry Elco or can get Elco parts for you. Most of the electrical supply companies on the internet are not going to get get back to to for a part that costs a couple of bucks. Comments (23)I just realized that my post didn't get posted yesterday so I will try again! As I said I am right there with you! I have 12 x 12 covered deck that isn't quite finished yet but I did find an armoire for $35 at the local fleamarket that I painted last year and put up against the house on the deck for storage. I also have a kitdchen island cart painted out there. Dh just got an air compressor so I've bought a paint gun and plan to use a better quality paint on both of them. Just off the deck steps there is a huge patio that we poured last fall for a hot tub. The contractor decided to use up the concrete and it ended up being alot bigger and that put enough room for the hot tub on the other side of the door into the garage. So... I painted an old set of outdoor furniture and put it on there but it just isn't enough and I had gotten the air mattress idea from here and planned to build a daybed like I've seen on HGTV. My dh is not well so it wasn't looking good about getting it done. But he would love a place to pile up out there. After this post, I went to a local antique/thrift store and found a full size iron bed that will be perfect once I either paint it or use a marine grade wax on it. I can't wait to see it in action. The only problem is a cover for the air mattress that will look like it belongs out there. I will try to post some pics over the weekend. I plan to borrow my mom's truck tomorrow and pick up the bed. You encourage me! Alicia...See MoreSomething is missing from my living room and I'm not sure what...
Comments (36)Hi all, it has been a while but thought I'd update you on my progress. I've taken a lot of the comments on board (other than switching the painting as we love this painting), and I'm getting there. But I'm still struggling to pull everything together. I do still need to change the curtains to floor length ones, but I have no idea what colour/pattern to go for, so any suggestions would be very much appreciated! I've tidied up the bookshelves, built up the mantel, and we've finally installed our wooden flooring, I swapped the corner chair for a rocking chair and think everything feels a lot neater now and less chaotic. As you can see, I ditched the red couch cover - the red and blue was too jarring for me. But now I think the green couch along with the blue chair is too much? If so, what should I do? Both are IKEA and can have their covers replaced, I just don't know what colours to go for...maybe a light blue for the couch? I also think I should change the grey walls to a cream? It's an East facing room so I'm limited on what wall colours I can use but I feel the grey is too cold and flat in the evening. I'm thinking it's my colour scheme that's stopping everything from feeling coherent, but it could be other things I'm not picking up on? Please ignore that half the tiles are missing from the fireplace, haven't got round to fixing them yet, also the plant has seen better days and I'm slowly nursing it back to health after it was attacked repeatedly by our kitten. Thanks all....See MoreRelated Professionals
