Good point. "Support" can be a good thing, no doubt. The main user of this piece will be my teenage son, however, who wants something he can really sink into! BTW, the leather sectional I'm referring to is by Natuzzi. Just about decided to buy it--now that I know I can soften up the seating. Any idea how much I might expect to spend at the upholsterer? The two cushions on the sleeper part are sewn together--so no potential gapping issue. The softer the foam, the more that happens, right? The attached chaise seat is plenty cushy. One of my clients has a Norwalk The Furniture Idea store. http://www.norwalkfurnitureidea.com/catalog.asp?l_room=9 All their stuff is made-to-order, so you pick out the frame / style and can get about any of their 2700 fabrics on it. Of all my clients, I think I like the quality of their upholstered stuff the best. They are a national franchise, so look for a store under their locater. Check out The Sofa Bed Store, you'll get a great mattress and they come apart to fit up stairs. Avoid Ikea if you want it to be comfortable and last, go with Ikea if you need something temporary in my opinion (when in budget of course). I have their most compact model and it arrived in a few boxes, wasn't horrible to assemble (and this meant I could choose what would fit the room, not what would fit my condo's elevator!) @Lisa - so you’re saying that like decoenthusiaste’s photos, but the sofa could be backed up to the foot of the bed barrier and the white table? @Angel- yes that’s the idea that the space would be living room by day- but with the floating sliding divider “wall” if someone wanted privacy during the day, they would just close off that space. But mostly the sliding doors would be open and it would act like a living room until it becomes a bedroom, basically at night. so yes decoenthusiaste’s idea does provide the bed to be basically tucked out of eyesight… “looks” like a living room most of the time. @decoenthusiaste, do you know where to purchase a divider like that? or probably east to construct I would think as it’s very simple.
