Not sure how much you want to spend on the project but here is something to consider. Have a carpenter gut the bookshelves and build in a dresser on each side. It might feel like you are removing some of the character of the room, but you still have the unusual ceiling and the adorable window seat. Make the fronts for the drawers decorative with moldings and interesting pulls. With two dressers you would achieve more clothing storage, and if you had the top a bit lower than the molding there would be room for deco items. Then you could put your bed on the centered window with drapes on either side the width of the bed. You would also have room for two nightstands and access to each side. Nightstands with shelves would accommodate your books. I would also get a lower headboard. If you get a different bed the existing light fixture might work. I also like the idea of painting your ceiling the same color as the walls. If you think that might be too dark, paint it half strength. Alternatively, I would do what Lynartist suggested. Lamps, mirror, etc can come after furniture placement is decided. Good luck, it's a lovely room!

This sort of ceiling makes it difficult to do anything other than paint it. A flat or completely vaulted ceiling is much more versatile.

Just went and did that Mark. My shortest items are my blazers/jackets...which are pretty small and they are still 30ish inches with my hangers. Shirts are a few inches longer than that. Could probably squeeze in 3 rods, but it would look really cramped, rather than a nice space. My husbands shirts at 38 inches would really be snug. Maybe 2 rods of shirts plus 1 of folded in half jeans...but again, would look cramped. Seems that 10 foot really is the minimum to make this work, even in a hers closet.

Tile to the ceiling is fine. It'll look really pretty. But there are a couple problems with your plan. - Have you even used a wet-room? Are you absolutely sure you want the PITA cleaning situation, requiring you to clean the tub every time you use the shower? I use my tub about once a month, so I only need to clean it once a month. With a wet room, unless it's ginormous, you have to clean it every day bc moisture, body oils, soap scum, etc will be on it. - And if your wet room is ginormous enough to have the tub really far from the shower area (so it doesn't get wet every time), then the shower is going to be really drafty and cold. - And a 12' ceiling in a shower pretty much guarantees it's going to be drafty and cold anyways. So, like I said, your tile plan is fine. The real problems are PITA cleaning and a very cold drafty shower. BRRRR!
