You have a brick red roof, so I don't think black garage doors or greige really work, here. If you did white or off white paint for the walls and black for the window trim, I'd then maybe remove the shutters and go for wood garage doors and a front door.

I agree with flopsycat1 above. paint them the color of the house, and put a brighter color on the front door.

I'd also do them the same color as the house.

I added some mock-ups that do what I think you are suggesting. off white towards white house, pretend dark wood garage doors, black shutters/plantar by one window (or another picture takes the shutters off).

I did the trim next to the roof line black, but kept the trim in all other areas that same white as the house. Should I do the trim above the garage a black too or leave that the white color?

Not sure I can change my window frame color without a lot of expense : (.

i didn't change the door color because it changes the tree and matches the plantar color?? I also did a mockup with garage doors same color as house.

Do you think changing the house color is a good idea to the silver plume base with white wood trim, etc... while removing the shutters, or do you mean to leave the house the same color it currently is, remove the black shutters, and lighten the front door? I am a bit confused about what flopsycat means with the coloring. Is there no black anywhere? What color is the house? Should it be off-white/current color (first picture) or the silver plume color (paint sample shown above)? What color is the trim? Wouldn't this be too plain if I left it all the same color without any contrast? Also, when you say remove the shutters, do you mean the plantar too? I am not sure what deleting the windows means. Please help! Is this what is meant other than adding a colored door. I am not a color lover so not sure what color I would choose. My closet is full of black, white, gray and tan : )

Does it matter if light or dark in color? I am thinking the darkest wood look I can find, but that might be mahogany in color...still not super dark Also when you say remove shutters, do you mean, remove plantar too or just shutters? What color for the trim and corbels at the roof line? black or creamy white?

Hi yes remove shutters and planter….all exterior that includes all trim the same color…only paint the actual window pane black. yes metal garage doors no windows in a medium brown.

I like the suggestion of Swiss Coffee. We’ve used it and it can still read fairly white on the exterior but not stark at all.

It is hard to paint in the wood-look garage doors and completely delete the shutters/plantar in the photo, but we will imagine it is completely gone. Also, it is hard to do in the mock-up, but I would paint the current white part of the window frames black. I appreciate all of your help! I am loving this new and so much better look! Thank you! It seems wood doors that blend with the (brown?) roof color could work. There would be some balance keeping the main focus off the garage. I like the example from Home Interiors with Ease for the garage.

You are welcome! it will look so fresh…for garage doors I like no windows..if you really will miss the light..go with simple design..simple rectangle windows…if you have examples of the garage doors you are looking at post a few images.

Here are the garage doors I am thinking. I put it in white so you can see the design...sometimes it is hard to tell what it looks like in the colored versions. There are also two medium, darker wood options. I agree they look better without windows, but these examples have windows...easily removed. What company makes the ones you suggested? I don't see them on Amarr's website?

The easiest thing to try to see if you like it is painting garage doors taupe trim like windows and roof. Yes, remove shutters. See how that goes. If you don't like it then replace with wood doors. Don't like black garage doors at all for your place with the Spanish tile roof you seem to have.

Thank you for all of your advice. I am happy to embrace the Spanish style of the home and go with the swiss coffee, black window frames, and wood-look garage door. I am down to some details now.

After receiving an orange-looking sample of the original garage doors I was looking at, I am on the hunt for some other options. Sadly, with wood-look garage doors, there aren't many color/style options. Another garage door company comes out tomorrow, and I have been digging into the websites. I am now looking at medium and darker wood look options. Please help me decide on the style and tone of the wood (medium to darker). Here are some options I have copied from the website. The screenshot color reads a bit darker than my screen, but it gives the general idea for color and style options. I also pulled two houses that show a medium and a bit darker for garage doors to help. Please let me know your preferred style and color (med or dark).

Additionally, after looking at these house examples, I wondered about the trim and corbels near my roofline. Should they be black, or should that wood all be painted white, as I previously understood? I did some mock-ups with the dark trim/corbels. I took off the shutters but left the plantar black in one (actually I left the wood piece on top of the window too, but maybe that should have been white or removed and only the bottom plantar painted if kept??). One of the pictures also shows a lighter garage door. I plan to paint the stucco that is currently a tan color (around the windows) white, so I am only talking about the wood accents near the roof and a few wood corbels above the small garage. There are two wood pieces that are above the garage that I figure should be white.

In summary, I would love to hear garage style and color (med or darker), roofline trim/corbels (white like stucco or black), and plantar (should I for sure remove the above window trim and below window plantar)? I am definitely removing the shutters and should probably remove the plantar, I just wanted to double-check after possibly adding color to the roofline/corbel trim).

Why are you so set on black. Its not the best option for your house. Can you tell us, what color your roof is. Its very hard to be able to know that with the pictures. No black on the entrance door either. Paint it a nice bright color that people can see, and make sure its well lit for after darkness hours.

I was just double-checking before I make the final decisions. I am guessing you say no to black trim at the roof line ; ). All swiss coffee except for black frames? I took some pictures of the roof....light reddish/orangish color.

I have always loved black and white, but would love to do what looks best. As of now, the only thing black will be the window frames. The house would be white and the garage doors wood-look in color. I will get to the front door a little later and can lighten it up then. ; ) I did like the very very very light bluish/green color or the black framed glass door or if the garage door ends up being easy to match, I might do a wood-look.

I wouldnt use black anywhere on your house. I would leave the trim the color it is, or use the same paint color as the house body in a different sheen. I would do the garage doors the same color as the house itself too. Painting another color or stain on a garage door, is going to call attention to those garage doors, and will be the first thing anyone notices, before they notice your pretty house. You want people to notice a nice looking house, and to see the front door right away, not your garage doors. I love black, and in fact, all the trim, in my entire house is painted black, and a lot of my furniture is also black. However, black on the exterior of my house, would not look good at all.

Here are the garage doors I am thinking of going with. This is someone else's house. Picture taken in full sun and the other with shadow. I originally liked the oak tone color but I am scared it will look too 80s. The garage door we looked at above was too orange and shiny in person so I switched companies.
