ready for living room overhaul but can't get over awkward room. help!
Comments (13)Love the color of the walls and that wonderful paneled wall. I agree that the tv is in the right place on the paneled wall. Here is a floor plan which may work for you. Use the space that is not under the catwalk above as the seating area. This way the walk thru will be under the lower ceiling. Tuck a 87" wide sofa with a chaise end on the right of the fireplace with a console behind. Install wall sconces for lighting at the console instead of lamps. Lose the big lamp (it's ver nice) and use smaller scaled floor lamps. Get a matching 66" loveseat and angle off the sofa. this will create a more open layout and not so boxed off from the kitchen. Add two matching swivel chairs. The coffee table is a 48" diameter with four round ottomans or floor pillows. The rug is 12 x 15 so that it anchors the furniture and includes the paneled wall and the fireplace into one cohesive area. Along the staircase wall is 10" deep low cabinet or bookcase up to the ceiling for games, books, etc. Something like an Ikea Pax with frosted doors, simple and functional for storage. Hope this helps....See MoreNeed help designing an awkward living room space
Comments (2)Without measurements of the room and sectional, I’ll wing it and suggest you try turning it with the the back to window and doors. Pulling it away from them, hopefully it will give you space to walk behind it. Then put the t v in the space of photo # 3....See MoreAwkward Living Room - Help
Comments (16)Until you can decide what you want or can do; I would consider separating sofa. Move end piece to corner where small cabinet is now. Center remainder of sofa in front of window. Drape items in wicker basket over arms of sofa and end piece in corner. Move basket over by darker turquoise shelf for toys, backpacks, etc. Slide dog bowls under cabinet until find another place for them. The small cabinet can go at end of sofa. Do a grouping of Halloween items. (Pumpkins on entry railing, skulls on webbing from turquoise chest on FP. Move tray from turquoise cabinet to small cabinet for key, mail, etc....See MoreLovely bright, but awkward living room
Comments (16)I starded experimenting with furniture from other living room and ”new” cream chairs and tables. Would the aqua sofa and blue chairs look better in the ”lounge” with fireplace, and the colonial style chairs with brown coffee table and brown sofa in the family/ tv room? I was going tove the round white table into the family room (where aqua sofa is pictured) but i feel the brown and cream set with brown table would better fit (in scale) in the family room. And similarly, the Aqua sofa and two large liunge chairs and large round table would look better (scale wise) in the ”lounge/fireplace/living room”. Does that make sense? If the side tables dont work, I can use them as night stands as i dont have any rught now…. The chairs and table look small? This furniture into the playroom? including side tables and coffee table? not sure if you can tell, but alot of space leftover in this room… as it is very long… this furniture looks big in here? move to the blue room? - not sure if you can tell from pic, but it feels a little crammed on right side in front of door Instead of brown sofa, aqua? MIL and grandmother both suggested to move the aqua sofa to the blue room, and brown sofa to the pale green room… and then move picture to above sofa in the blue room? the wall is large, but it would be very oversized- almost to the cieling height. Or the large artwork in hallway upstairs as a stand alone piece… Or on this wall as a stand alone piece - dont mind table- that was pushed into the corner to make room for something temporary. Also, hallway and dining room are to get painted....See MoreRelated Professionals
