Comments (8)I can't do this yet. I have three young plants. Real babies. One is for us -- a gift from Paul -- and the other two will be sold by HRG at some future event. One thing I've seen right away ... it seems to be more tolerant of our alkaline conditions than most poiple roses are. I'm very sold on it....See MoreRare Roses Trip to Oregon and Calfornia
Comments (12)Very nice summary of out new projects, Rick! Thanks for provdiing the update. I so enjoyed our visit and will always remember our time together fondly. I was going to start a thread on this, but have been fighting weeds, planting our summer veggie garden, and preparing cuttings for Mindy at Hummingbird Roses. Marolena: you have a keen eye, and you are always welcome to chime in. The climbing rose in the photo is indeed Hyde Hall. It grows to enormous dimensions here, well over 12 feet. I don't think that I have ever seen it without at least a dozen flowers on it. I may try growing some Hyde Hall plants as a hedge. I also grow Harlow Carr and agree that it could ever get larger than 5.5 feet or so, even in California. Paul, we all want to thank you for your contribution to the world of roses with your unique introductions. Rick did not mention that when we went to the SJHRG, we saw one of your masterpieces, the peachy-apricot flowered Gallica 'Marianne', in FULL BLOOM! That was quite a thrill for both of us. Thanks for providing Rick with the plants that are now in my garden, which will hopefully remain as a 'polar vortex-free' repository for a collection of Paul Barden roses. I would be happy to provide you with plants of any varietes from your breeding program, that you may have lost over the years and would like to have once again in your own garden....See MoreRelated Professionals
