Thanks so much for all of your help...but after stressing out about it way too much, I hopped in my car and rode to Charlotte yesterday and looked at the cabinet to see it, touch it, feel it (yep, I'm one of those that actually wants to see it). I then decided to order the wall mounted, which I can get in a couple of weeks, versus the inset. I'm happy that I finally made a decision and am done with that! Now on to the light fixture decision. Is it me, or was it easier to make decisions when I was younger??

Hi....I do. I have the E'lux Icon speed oven with the designer handle and the Icon 30" wall oven. Not the best picture of the ovens but it's the only one I have on Photobucket right now. There has been no problems with either oven. The first time I used the reg oven it was for Thanksgiving last year. I was pretty proud of myself, I set the oven and used the probe. When the turkey was done @160�, the oven automatically went to warm and beeped to tell me it was done. Perfect turkey!!!! I was a little concerned about the comments about the oven not being as deep as the non-icons but I have had no problems with pans not fitting. I use all the settings, love the bread proofing and I have tomatoes that I'm dehydrating right now. I haven't really concentrated on using the speed oven as much, I guess old habits are hard to change. I have used it as a speed oven though and every thing has turned out fine. The speed oven has more of a learning curve. I do cook and bake a lot, we rarely eat out. I did make a pie in the speed oven and that was fine. But one word of caution, the interior is hard to clean. I roasted a whole chicken in the speed oven on high heat and the grease splattered everywhere and was hard to clean off the interior. I wish it had a self cleaning setting. I learned my lesson...... smaller interior so splatters are going to be on the surfaces. Do chicken in the big oven. We also put in the 36" induction cook top and I love it! So fast, easy to control and clean up takes seconds. I'll never go back to gas. Nancy

You're welcome. Can you put a lower counter below the one window on the left wall? If it's the right height for a baking counter, say 33", that would make a nice baking center for you. If that's possible, here's another idea. Move the DO to the lower end of the left wall with a pantry cab between it and the wall. Then add a lower counter below the window, spanning the distance between DO cabs and cabs on upper side of the left wall. Then turn the island perpendicular to its present position and shift it over to give you enough aisle space between perimeter cabs and island. Rhome has only 36" between prep area and cooktop and it works for her but most prefer 42". This eliminates the butt to butt problem of sink, DW and cooktop. On the backside of the island, go with a raised curved counter with seating facing the baking center. This eliminates the in-a-row seating that makes conversation harder and also provids a buffer between seaters and cooktop activity (a pop-up downdraft helps with that, too). These changes mean that fridge traffic no longer crosses the work zones so you can eliminate the undercabinet fridge. You can increase to a 36" fridge if you need more room. Oh, one thing just popped out at me. You wrote that you're doing standard depth fridge but your plan shows a fridge with CD dimensions. A standard depth fridge will stick out several inches more than you show. You could take the money you would have spent on a fridge and undercab fridge and get a CD fridge instead and gain more aisle space. I'm talking stand alone, not built-in. If the window doesn't allow for a 33" or 34" counter, you could still put one in front of it, just do a "floating" counter. A GWer did such a thing for her sink in an old house. Wish I could remember who it was.... It was clever and allowed her to put counter where one wouldn't think counter could go. Until I remember who it is, here's my recollection of how it works. She has cabinets up to the window sill, then open space in front of the window between lower cabs and counter. You could leave this clear or put baskets there for storage. The unfitted look would be appropriate for your old home's age. Heck, if this look works for you, you can go with standard height counters and have a really nice long counter run, perfect for baking prep.

My friend has the R77V3 for about 3 years and likes it. She did have one issue when first installed and Rohl replaced the entire thing no questions asked (i.e. instead of dithering with parts and waiting for replies and that sort of thing). Since then the faucet has been problem-free. She likes that the faucet can look both traditional and yet not old-fashioned at the same time - that's hard to find! She said she made one mistake though due to her sink is small. The Rohl Country pull-out offers two faucet reaches, a 9" (R77V3) and a 7-1/8" (R77V3S), and she bought the longer one. She wished she'd bought the shorter one which would fit better in her small sink. She has thought about switching it out, but doesn't want to be bothered at this point. Just something to think about if you have a small sink.
