If it is anything like its hybrid that I think is part Shaviana, That bloom will last and bloom for a long long tim, just uncurling and uncurling. I just bought a E shaviana. It is sitting around getting its dirt washed off and calloused before re-planted. It has a bloom bud on it.

I think S. barbertonicus has fatter leaves. Chalk Sticks (common name) can mean different plants to different people. I believe your plant is Senecio 'Himalaya'. There have been several discussions over the past years that I can recall. It was confusing to us all. FYI, if you're interested, that "seam" you referred to (more like a window slit to me--you can see through it) points me to a Senecio ID. BUT...it is such a HUGE genus...it is, at times, daunting to figure out IDs. Sun or part shade, I think. You can Google the name for care requirements.

Thanks for the info Dz! I brought him in & treat him like a Jade. I'm glad to know it was the right thing to do -_- I hope putting him in a gritty mix will work for him, cause that's what his feet are in now. So far, he looks exactly the same as in the last pic. No signs of stress. I like his wavy trunk & though it's currently the thickness sharpee, maybe it'll make a good tree-like container plant for me. I'd love to see pics of yours. Is yours kept indoors or are you in a warmer climate than I? The most I've been able to find is google-wise is in different languages, sometimes, info just doesn't translate well. He *is* quite unusual, isn't he :) What I can't figure out is what the hell was he doing here at an average garden center on Long Island? It's not a high end nursery & they usually carry the usual plants, nothing untried, shall we say. The original price was 17.99 or so for 1 qt container & it *did* say annual. Maybe it was leftover landscaping material, because there's a wholesale landscape supply business at the same location. He looks like a Dr. Seuss tree to me =) and his funky habit led me to sedum multiceps. Sheesh. My collection is growing in leaps & bounds, I'm going to have to start a trade list aren't I? Thank you for the name suggestions..it sure helped and gave me a starting place for the first one. I think maybe ? it may be the Echeveria Imbricata. Seems right for the size and colour it was in the summer. It was about 19-20cm in diameter. Now I have a starting place to see how to care for it. I am concerned that it has lightened drastically since bringing it in and all are loosing a lot of outer leaves. I hope I havent lost it. The second most definitely is that. The one at the garden center where I purchased this one from had one that was a few feet high and reminded me of a large Jade the way the trunk was woody and spread out. It seems to be doing ok so far after bringing in so fingers crossed on that one..
