gas fireplace with 1/2 inch csst pipe

I currently have a washer/dryer (gas) that I'm planning to move from the main floor to the upper floor (near bedrooms). I was thinking I could attach a gas fireplace to where the dryer used to be using the same stub out. Is this a feasible plan?

I called one fireplace company who said that they'd need to run an entirely new gas line from gas meter (not distribution manifold) due to the amount of BTU's a gas fireplace would pull. From looking fireplaces up online they seem to draw between 20-80k btu depending on their size which seem well within the capacity of a 1/2 inch pipe.

Is the fireplace company trying to upsell me or is there something I'm missing on connecting the fireplace where I already have a gas line.
