Can't sleep - I think I may hate my newly finished floors (PICS)
Comments (50)I am in exactly the same place with my red oak floors :( my floors look just as orange as in the pictures... and the variations and wood grain are much more pronounced than I wanted. I have the flooring company coming in on Monday to put down the third coat of poly - do I have any options at this point? Or just a matter of it mattering less once I get more used to the new color...? I had this same level of shock and discomfort with my wall color (had to leave my apartment for the evening just to soothe myself!), but once they sanded the floors - I realized I loved the wall color, just that my old floor finish was clashing with it. Now after staining the floor - I am back to feeling they really clash... and I really wish I had just opted for no stain and a natural finish instead... I’d take that look over what I now have any day. At least - that’s how it feels right now. To the original poster - @lacollar - (or anyone else with a similar experience) - did you eventually get used to (or even fall in love with?! :)) your floors... even though at first it felt like the choice of stain color was a huge mistake? Has anyone tried tinting the final coat to tone down the orange/reds? Does that work? Appreciate any help/advice. Thank you all!...See MoreUPDATE on my "I Hate my Kohler Stages Sink", new Karbon facuet
Comments (10)SO glad it's at least somewhat helpful. Seriously, I wouldn't know about even HALF of the things I've put into my kitchens over the years if it weren't for the real-life experiences of actual cooks who do their kitchens and share here. The faucet was chrome, so maybe not everyone's cup of tea, but we had several other chrome elements, so it worked for us, and at 40% off what I was expecting to pay, I was IN. Karbon for $769 This faucet is seriously amazing. Count me in the fan club!! A total aside, but the AutoTap was another purchase that has revolutionized how we cook. I remember reading about the TapMaster years ago, and I found the AutoTap for FAR less, and I'm in love. My ONLY beef with the KK faucet was that you had to turn the water off in order to revert back to a steady stream. The AutoTap makes it as easy as a tap of the toe. Love this thing. My other half came in with mucky hands and walked right over to the sink and just tapped it on. Nifty AutoTap #KitchenDorkLOVE...See MoreI Hate My New Floor!
Comments (48)NEG this looks just like a super stubborn mark I had on my lvp in our basement last week. My husband had moved a small gaming console that had rubber feet. No household cleaners would touch it. I had to get a toothbrush, dawn dish soap and some warm water. Plus a toothpick. Our lvp is grooved like yours. I just can’t get on board with the “mold” theory. That seems like crazy talk. If I spilled water anywhere in my house, inside outside, threw it on the wall, it wouldn’t just mold on contact. Now if taped it over with Saran Wrap, sure. But in the middle of the kitchen in winter with a nicely moisture-controlled house? Nope. I really think it some sort of residue from contact from something: rubber boot, dragging something, etc...See MoreI hate my new house color, what do I do?
Comments (39)Since repainting is not in the budget, work with what you can. The shutters would be better not there, or if you want to keep them, white. So frustrating when colors don’t end up the way you thought/planned-more so when it’s such a large/expensive area, too. I very much want to kick those shrubs, so really hope you take them out. Someone I’m quite sure can come up with some pretty plants/flowers to put there instead. Yellow is my favorite color, and I like the color of the door, but I do agree about changing it to orange. Patricia‘s MCM idea is lovely, if you can swing the wood. As far as repainting the entire house again bc you’re selling..I like blue, but if I bought it, I would probably repaint anyway, unless it was specifically what I wanted—let the buyers down the road decide. So I think it a wise thing to not mess with repainting again....See MoreRelated Professionals
