Right, your builder should clearly upgrade his lighting ideas to fit his ceiling ideas. In this regard, it would be to his benefit (his learning curve) to bring him back and ask him: here's my chandelier - how do I install it? If you're doing this yourself... what are the limitations of the amount of work you want to do? Do you want to rewire, or are we working just with attaching different fixtures to the existing wiring? And is building anything in the cards? Whether a beam, or a closed box across the peak, that would expand the choices considerably. Is your DR table centered under these lights? You likely want the chandelier centered over the table. One of the options I would play with (and it really depends on the whole room shot) is a linear multi-light fixture, mimicking the idea put forward by lovesummer above of a beam. The bar on the fixture could go along the vault or across it, and the question only becomes where you wire it in and how you do it unobtrusively. KarinL

These are the listing photos from the prior owner. The room is empty and I'm looking for help. In the dining room all I have is a table. I really like this Robin Bruce sofa that a local store has but I was thinking Navy. My husband thinks that is too dark in the room and also not practical with the dog. But I'm really wanting advice on furniture placement/arrangement. Would you do 2 sofas facing each other and tv over fp or put a console on long wall with tv?

Here is the space between my chairs and console table. Between tables, it is 37 inches. You can see that my chairs are rather bulky. Honestly, they were a custom order and a mistake! I should have had chairs with a smaller back. I do use the buffet. It is where the desserts and beverages go during big holiday meals. I would hate not having it. But in your space, if you don’t need the serving space, I would forego the buffet. As someone mentioned, a floating shelf might be a good option. It could be used for decor, and if needed, could certainly hold a wine bottle or water pitcher.

At first I really liked the glam one , but looking at the last photo you shared of your kitchen, which is beautiful btw, I don't know that it works with it. The other one works better with the space but it strikes me as maybe a little tired? If I saw it in your house I'd still think you have a beautiful house, but it doesn't seem as special.
