Healthy Lifestyle Progress - Week of 1/28/2024
Comments (16)Sorry for everyone who is dealing with illnesses. It is so difficult to keep on track when stuff comes up. Gscience you have my admiration for focusing on your exercises. For many years with my physical struggles I used my health problems as an excuse. No more. As far as I'm concerned never again. But I really do believe we all have to decide for ourselves whether we are going to struggle with this or use our energy for something else. I hope this procedure you have done was helpful and took care of the problem. Hugs to you. Hugs to everyone. For me it's the cold I had for two and a half weeks. It has finally loosened it's hold on me. Also the stupid migraines. B2 vitamins seem to be taking the edge off so hopefully they will work as well as the flax oil did that took my migraines away completely for those 5 years. Exercise is going well. I am generally sticking to it. I do the exercises three times a week but I also don't do it exactly on the same day some weeks. Yesterday I was playing catch up for Wednesday's exercise day. I will likely fudge it and do it later tonight for my Friday so I don't have to do those kind of exercises on Saturday and Sunday. I truly love my weekends off. So in general with the exercises intermittent fasting and trying to get a handle on my health things are working. I have to watch my cheese intake darn it. I love cheese. It settles nicely on my hips.. Best to everyone! Have a great weekend! I do think of you often; I'm just not a very good writer.. still know that I'm here sometimes way too silently supporting you all....See More2024 February week 1
Comments (92)I'm here. Just busy with grocery shopping this morning and taking the recycling to the recycling center. We also took a load of stuff to donation. Then, came home and put it all away. And started painting the walls in Ethans room. I had to do some repairs to one of the walls and had to do two coats. In between all of that I did animal care and cleaned up the kitchen which hadn't been done in a couple of days. I'm really tired. Still think I'm fighting a cold or something. But, I'm really excited to see that most of my pellets are sprouted. They're just so pretty I could look at them for hours. We saw our daughter last night for dinner. It was really nice. Her husband was at a Daddy/Daughter Dance with his niece because her daddy was out of town. It was nice to have her to ourselves for a couple of hours. Ethan continues to do well in Oregon. He bought a used dining table and chairs today. It's really cute. I'm glad he's finally in his own apartment. If everything goes as planned (it rarely does), this home remodel will be done at the end of the month. I'll spend a day or two deep cleaning. The dust from all the sanding and whatnot is everywhere. Then....THEN can finally focus on garden cleanup. The asparagus beds still aren't cleaned up. If the weather cooperates on spring break, I'll do a lot of outdoors clean up, chicken coop clean up, hoop house clean up. All the clean up stuff the yard and gardens need. As soon as Ethan's room is finished, I'll move the light shelf in that room and it can stay there for a couple of weeks until the carpet people come. His room should be complete by Thursday. Other than the new closet doors, but we'll install those once the carpet is in. The plan is to start tomatoes and peppers around March 1. I'll probably start some flowers, roselle, and herbs too. Kim, I'm excited about the cumin. If you have an extra plant, I would love one. I saved a lot of okra seed. BUT we had two varieties--Clemson and Beck's Big Buck. So....if these cross pollinated, it will be interesting to see what they produce....See MoreJuly 2024 -- Week 1
Comments (59)Jennifer, I want to know how your whippersnapper tastes. I seeded it for a couple of years, but gave it away. When I finally kept one I found the fruit mealy. I always wondered if it was just my plant or if I had given away tomato plants that made "spitters". Kim we had a couple of ducks adopt us when we had geese. They followed the geese around and ate the bugs the geese stirred up. Last week someone asked if beans were effected by the heat...yes, like tomatoes, they stop producing., may even drop blossoms. Southern peas are not effected this way. Noodles beans or yard long beans are the same species, so they continue to produce. Bush beans are kind of like determinate tomatoes in that they produce a couple of flushes and they're done. I have had pole beans live on a trellis behind tomatoes and start producing again in fall. Old busy, you have quite a selection there, wish I lived closer. I think Dawn used Miracle-Gro bloom booster on tomatoes before cool downs. I remember because she had no use for MG other wise. I actually have a never used bottle. It still troubles me because foliar fertilization is supposed to be a myth. It also comes in versions put on the soil and other companies have their own versions....See More2024, October week 4
Comments (37)Larry, henbit is beginning to come up in my garden beds again too. It's so annoying. I like it out in the fields, but not in my garden. I'm just leaving it be and will deal with it next spring. Except for the bed I'll put garlic. Has anyone done garlic in a hoop house? I haven't looked at the garden today yet and it's nearly 3. I do feel better, but we've been busy with other stuff. We were able to get the antique bed set up in Ethan's room. And the cute black and white checkered curtains up. It's going to be a cute room. I've kept a lot of houseplants in that room mostly on the windowsill. There are mealy bugs on the coffee plant. I took it outside and sprayed it with Neem. And the other plants that didn't have any (that I saw), got a treatment just in case. I'm wondering if that coffee plant came with them. Tom gave the plant to me several months ago. I have several succulents that need to come indoors soon. Three need to be up-potted. Where to put them all, tho? Green onions are beginning to pop up in the Vego beds. As soon as it rains, I'll put the garlic in. They're still saying rain is coming on Wednesday. Of course, that is the day of my giant community event, but it's okay. I've got plans to move the entire thing indoors. The companies that are donating food, candy, drinks, etc. are all supposed to deliver on Tuesday. Anyway, yes, garlic. It will be planted soon. I have strawberry runners, but have failed with replanting them twice, but I need to try it again soon. They look so healthy. I just wonder if they weren't ready to be separated from the mother plants. They're in the Greenstalk, so it's a bit more difficult to keep them attached even if stretched to another pocket. Do any of you have frost showing up on the 9-day?...See MoreRelated Professionals
