There is of everything else! ;) You will need to remove any loose paper and do what you can to smooth the wall. Then use joint compound and a wide scraper/spatula to skim the joint compound over the areas that aren't smooth. Don't try to make it perfect in one coat -- it never will be (why drywall repair is expensive -- multiple trips, not difficulty). Let that dry, sand and repeat until you are happy with how it looks. Two or three coats is about the minimum -- two might work if the walls are textured. You use the joint compound wetter to add texture. Most walls are done with rollers of varying naps -- a thicker nap leaves more texture on the wall. A repair might work with a sponge. You can practice on a board and wipe off until you are happy with how it looks. Let the texture dry and then you are ready to prime and paint....See MoreHelp me with my powder room! (PICS)
Comments (13)Thanks you guys! Cooperbailey I was tipped off to Lowe's lighting by the Just Beachy blog - I never would have tought it! I was eyeing the one you have in your kitchen for my dining area (small table.) But it won't work with what I'm doing for the kitchen island lighting, which is in very close proximity. Nanna I bought the mirror years ago at a place in Boston called IN Home Furnishings. FANTASTIC store, albeit a tad pricey, usually only bought stuff on sale. It's hanging as an accent in my powder room in my PA house. It is pretty small and I'd be afraid the wrong scale for the sink - it's 11w x 15h at its furthest points, and the mirror itself is only 5x7. There's a shop here in town that has lots of white washed mirrors with great gesso (or sometimes carved) frames, I'll take a peek at what they have. If I find one I like I could silver leaf it. Or not. ;-)...See MoreHelp! Who has led lights in glass cabinet with wood shelves
Comments (19)I had no problem finding multiple sources for LED strip lights of various colors. Our electrician had samples of 5000K and 2700K, both of which we hated. The 2700K was so warm. In fact I can't imagine even warmer lights. The 5000K was way too blue white. We ended up getting something between 3500 and 4000K (I can't remember) from a local lighting store. They also lent us samples so we could test them at home with our counter and backsplash samples as well as in our cabinets (we're using it for in-cabinet and undercabinet lighting). The intensity of the light also makes a huge difference in how the color appears and even such minor details as the background color of the strip. We found the white strips to seem brighter than the copper colored strips (I assume this is a reflection issue)? So your best bet is to find a place that has lots of options. I'm linking to environmentalights.com which is just one of many places that has several options (and you can order somewhat expensive sample kits if necessary). There's a ton of discussion (much of which was way over my head) on the lighting board about LED strips too. Here is a link that might be useful: Environmental Lights...See MoreLighting in frameless glass cabinets with wood shelves
Comments (6)"It looks like the tape light runs underneath the gaps in the hinges, so it must have been installed before the hinges were added to the doors? " No, the hinges were most likely already there when the LED tape was installed. Frameless cabinet doors use European hinges like the ones shown in The Kitchen Place's photos. When you take the kitchen cabinet door off of this type of hinge, the hinge arms stay with the door. I.e. once the door is removed, that crosspiece you are seeing (the hinge arm) where the tape as you put it is "running underneath" is not attached to the cabinet side. The hinge arms stay with the door. The hinge mounting plates that are screwed into the cabinet side and into the door side of course remain in place....See MoreRelated Professionals
