Design Dilemma Kitchens

Has anyone used Vedhamn Oak IKEA?

I am redoing an IKEA kitchen in our recently bought house and wondered if anyone has a picture of the oak kitchen. Our flooring will be a light oak color. Also, I am thinking of mixing it with with white cabinetry and using the oak for the island. Would this look be too choppy?

Many things come into play when designing a kitchen I do not like the look of much of anything in the last pic IMO waterfall counters belong in very contemporary space famr house sinks in an old farmhouse and a range in a corner horrible design.The top pic stupid ends holding up the counter . If you want help here post a to scale floor plan shoing every window , doorway where those lead every measuremnt clearly marked on graph paper to make it easier . Post here in jpeg format in a comment DO NOT start another post . Once you have a plan then you start with finishes . What is your style . I happen to LOVE Ikea cabinets so all for that .Oak tricky if not the same type for sure European oak very different than the crappy scrub oak often seen here in NA

Patricia, I just came back from Ikea and will post a picture of the plan. The ikea Oak door is european white oak veneer and for the price is great. I did have to get over my dislike of oak from the 80's as that Oak was quite different. IKEA was amazing .. I am using over much of the cabinets I inherited with the house and just repositioning them so they make sense (rignt now the fridge, oven and stovetop are in a row next to each other).

Great feedback, thank you. shaggydogs- I'm not sure about that 1.5" thick issue. I know they released their new "SEKTION" kitchen line and that's what I ordered. I noticed during my online building process that the sink base cabinets are now different compared to the old AKURUM models. Maybe they have some adjustments built into the new base cabinets for this difference? I'll place a call to IKEA and find out. milworkman - As for the particle board issue, most laminates are bonded to particle board and when treated well they survive quite awhile. My grandmother has a laminate countertop that's 20 years old and still going strong. But, you're right about the 45 cuts, it's pretty much impossible to do that and keep it sealed. I could just join them together without 45's, but they have beveled edges and I've never been a fan of joining two perpendicular bevels together like that. It just collects debris and bacteria as well as looking "half assed" in terms of build quality in my opinion. So, it seems I may have to give in and return these tops when some solid oak slabs become available ( available stock on these tops in Ottawa Ontario is rarer than a unicorn some years!).

Agree with numbersjunkie. What you get from ikea varies by the competence of the individuals involved, but mostly it's geared to just stock cabinets, without any thought of customizing pieces to make a better fit for your space. They're more geared to making sure your measurements are accurate and that you order all the right bits and pieces than to coming up with a fab unique design. You'd be better off asking the kitchens forum first. Lots of ikea kitchens over there.

It has been a while since I purchased sheets but used to purchase most at Tuesday Morning because most of the packages you could feel the sheets. I passed at the lower thread count ones because I have almost always found that they felt harsh to my skin. I see online more types than my local store has had. I found out that I need to pay attention to the depth of the sheets, thickness of the mattress. I purchased and expensive set that would not fit on my mattress that I ended up using for other things. Only once have I found a set or individual sheets that would be too deep for my mattress. Last year rather than chance the store in April I ordered more slippers and they came by one of the delivery services and not by the company that IKEA hires to deliver big stuff when you select it yourself at the store.

The color is decided by you in your space with your lighting and you do that by buying a box laying it out in your space . Seeing this on someone elses space will not help you. Not to mention colors on monitors are often way off.

https://www.gardenweb.com/user/justin-burke89 We just got all our estimates in. I am actually using Enkoping White and Enkoping walnut on Island. I loved the Oak for the price, but it was too similar to the Provenza flooring I put in, and since it was real oak looked tacky. If you have a real wood floor it is an amazing value and very pretty. Here is one of our versions. I have not got the recent one with walnut from the kitchen designer. The left side will change with the window and stove moved over and dishwasher at the end and open shelving much longer and tile going to the shorter ceiling height.
