Hi, I purchased the Peach Drift, Coral Drift and White Drift this summer. So far the Peach and Coral are about 1 1/2 ft. tall by 2 ft. wide. The white one is staying shorter so far. They sure are pretty though and the most fragrant roses I believe I have. I have had the Peach the longest and its a quick repeat bloomer also. Judy

I just saw ICY DRIFT for the first time, just now. YOWZA! Not a bloom in sight, yet, but who cares! The foliage is GORGEOUS!!!!! A bright, happy yellow-green, and so packed with tiny leaves you couldn't see the canes. Icy Drift was in the same section with all the other groundcover roses at Madison (Mississippi) Garden Center, and there was no comparison. If the foliage stays anywhere near that nice, Icy Drift is up there with Mermaid and New Dawn as one of the greatest of the greats. I'd love to know how it looks after a year or two. I HAVE grown Peach Drift, when we lived in Madison before, and it seemed happier in the pots than once I (finally, after years of procrastination) got it into the ground. Still, they persist after seven years, being given sporadic care by the busy young surgeons who bought the house. We stopped by last week, before closing on our new Mississippi home, and the Peach Drifts I planted were looking happy - already leafed-out, with bronzy/maroon new growth: still small, though. Their new owners like them pretty well. Peach Drift continually sends up short blooming canes with showy clusters, in a delectable color range: basically, all the colors you'd see on ripening peaches. Once they start blooming, they continue up to the first frost. The ones I planted never attained the 'three-high/four-wide mound' size/shape I'd hoped for. But that may be my lack of soil amendment, or shortcomings in subsequent care. In Mississippi at least, Peach Drift tolerates a good bit of shade, and keeps right on blooming. Does not defoliate in the dead of Summer, and is semi-evergreen in Winter. I'm hoping Icy Drift will do the same. Has anyone down South grown Icy Drift for a few years? I'm tempted to send the truck by, to pick up every one the Garden Center has. But I'd like to know how the plant evolves over time. I'm thinking of planting a drift of Icy Drift beneath the sunny side of a clump of 'Shoal Creek' Vitex Agnus Castus (thank heavens the estate's last owners compiled a comprehensive set of books on the plantings... and the soil amendments... and the locations of the French drains: so I know exactly which cultivars I have of EVERYTHING, down to the Green Mountain Boxwoods). Anyway, I find blue to be cold and disturbing as a flower color, and white blossoms would be too cold, without the yellow-green foliage I saw today on Icy Drift. Can anyone tell me if the foliage continues to lean toward 'Lime', rather than maturing to a straight-up standard green?

The local nursery had a 50% off sale, so I bought one each of their #2 Drifts. Kept them indoors for less than a week, during which time I noticed the Pink started to have holes in its leaves like my Knockouts always do, the Red's leaves started to turn yellow (mainly in the middle of the plant, so it's even more "split" in the middle now), and the Coral got covered with powdery mildew all over its beautiful flowers and some leaves. Guess keeping them indoors was a bad idea, but also interesting to see what kinds of problems they might develop, especially late in the season. I must say though, I was not at all expecting powdery mildew on the Coral...if anything, I thought it would be on the Pink. Went ahead and cut off all of its pretty flowers (after finally planting them all outside), and going to try spraying with baking soda now since I don't have anything else at the moment. It is good that neither the Red nor the Pink got affected by the Coral's PM. Just sad since the Coral was my fav. The small Pinks I bought from out-of-state have reddish spots on the leaves rather than holes in the leaves, and that's despite of them having been sprayed by the nursery they came from. Definitely planning on getting the Bayer granules from now on, although not so happy about needing to.

I have been in a fog all afternoon and also in tears. My beautiful peach drift rose that was getting buds on it after it survived the winter is gone. I am soooo upset over losing it as where I live is a Seniors complex and there is a bit of garden out the front and it looks pretty bland so to liven it up a bit I put in the coral drift rose, the popcorn and added the peach drift last year I had beautiful flowers on it and then covered it up with burlap but couldn't really get too into it as I was battling tendonitis in my right arm. Come spring I half expected it to have not survived when I lifted off the burlap and was amazed to see new shoots coming from it and over the weeks green leaves and buds!!! I was ecstatic. Then today the region had these so called gardeners come and do the gardening. But their version of it is not what I would call professionals. I didn't even see them arrive and when the fellah phoned me to tell me about my rhubarb also been hacked by them used a weed whacker I was upset to say the least. I went outside and a big blank space where my drift peach rose was greeted my eyes. I just broke down and began crying. We found out that of the 3 rhubarb plants I brought back from the house we could only find 2 and even these had been chopped off leaving only about an inch so above the ground. We are both hoping they can grow back as the bulb part wasn't affected. And the woman gardener when the fellah who helped me plant it asked her where the rhubarb was she had no idea what it was. I have tried all over to get another peach one in Ontario Canada with no luck. And yet they didn't touch the purple iris or the coral drift or the popcorn one. It costs me $24.00 to get that rose as I had to pay $4 in bus fare to get there by bus and then $20.00 for the rose then having to look after it for the remainder of the summer and the winter as well as the spring soooo all that effort I put into it was wasted all because of these yoyos don't know which are flowers and which are weeds. It wouldn't be the first time this has happened as other people too have bought flowers and put them in the garden only for them to come along and with the good ol weedwhacker chop them all down.
