Primary Bedroom Bedding

We just repainted our primary bedroom and bought new walnut furniture. Trying to decide if we should use white and tan bedding or keep the PB Rosewood bedding we used previously. I feel like the PB Rosewood isn’t a perfect match but I also feel like the green, white and tan needs another accent color. We will keep the white lamps in both scenarios. 3 walls are SW Pure White and one wall is SW Basil. Trim and doors are creamy white similar to SW Alabaster.

Whichever you pick, I would not use the rosewood shams against that headboard. The wiggly quilting lines are fighting with the diagonal wood, and it looks really disjointed to my eye.

Thank you all for your help back in February! I’ve finished the room, and here are the Before & Afters. Photos are hard to get in such a small space, but hopefully it gives you the idea! Same bed, new art. Same sheets, new duvet cover & blankets. And a new cleaner wall colour (SW Shell White). Mango wood drum bedside tables to soften the edges; salt lamps on dimmers to provide enough light for reading, and an Apple Homepod Mini to use as alarm clock & speaker. Cellular blinds instead of the sheers. And springtime outside, instead of winter. Tidy new closet door, and fewer objects on the walls (nothing except the two paintings above the bed). And last but not least, those alcoves are gone! The photo doesn’t do it justice, but now the wall just disappears, and the room feels bigger. Again, thanks for all your help! I really like how it turned out. If you see anything else that it needs or any style faux pas (… yes, like the even number of paintings above the bed), I’d appreciate your suggestions.

IMO bedroom decor really iI think s made easier when the bedding is chosen first . Is all the stuff in the pics already belong to you?I would wait to decide wall color but this bedding could work not to flowery and not too masculine .I think it could be great with the lamps . Can we see the bed please just in a nother comment.This bedding actually has no yellow but gives the impression it is there somewhere . I aslo think it will work with the wall colr. I need to see the bed to give ideas for the night dstands. The bedding is Eddie Bauer Sorry missed the bed picture . So I like a nice simple wood night table hopefully the same colr as the headboard.I do not lovet duvets but coverlets are awesome like this one i show . All the walls the blue then a nice lime green throw a chair like the one in the pic but another color and then window coverings . Ilove drapes in a bedroom for a nice cozy fee and you coud do a nice linen in the palest of of yellow . I would do wider night tables for sure .

A couple of thoughts: Maybe hang wide curtains/draperies flanking the window behind the bed, so the bed is backed for its whole width rather than "hanging out" beyond the window? The molding frames on each side of the window would then need to be narrower (to my eyes, anyway), so they are entirely visible beyond the curtains. Something like this? (Not decor suggestions particularly, just showing how the bed wall might be arranged.) Plan the picture frame molding placement carefully, because it will determine size and placement of everything else in the room: furniture, art, mirrors, lamps, etc. Your inspiration photo feels beautifully "right" because everything relates perfectly to the moldings. I love picture frame molding, but it does constrain you.

Love the green! In my last home we made a headboard with plywood, foam, muslin, and an unused quilt that was the right color. We stapled the muslin and quilt around the back of the wood and then used a large French cleat to hang it on the wall. It cost maybe a couple hundred dollars total and I loved it. We’ve recently moved into our newly built home and I was planning on getting a Thuma bed frame as well. I don’t think the headboards they have are tall enough for my room, so I plan on building another headboard like our last one and letting it drop to the top of the bed frame where their headboard options would sit.

I usually like a rosewood color but it looks muddy and accidental here to me against that green. The green wall looks more special with white contrasting it.

IMO accent walls are best when they connest to somthing so me look for some bedding with a green in it. The headboard a bit rustiic so as much as the dogs like it IMO a bit not righht with the headboard . I love paisley print for bedding it is not too feminine or masculine and works wells for a bit of color.

The ivory bedding looks great with the headboard. And it will,work with any color in that wall, too.

The rosewood spread adds a level of warm & cozy. I agree the shams are too much against the headboard. I’d use ivory pillows with rosewood sham. There’s your color that I agree is nice instead of green/white/tan only.

One wall is a wimpy wall! Do it with intent.

Go back and paint the REST of the walls, please?

Get a RUG!!

PULL SOME GREEN onto the bed

Don't wimp out with ONE wall.and add art: )

Note..... the rosewood quilt as an accent and don't use the shams, use white, use a green

Thank you all for your help with this. It’s funny, years ago my house was filled with color. I’ve been stuck on neutrals for years though and am having trouble committing to color again. I am trying. I will look for some green bedding. I love the green bedding in the picture from PB but it’s the same one that I already have in Rosewood and Steel Blue. ❤️

Well.......I will say this? Pros almost never use accent walls. The room will look larger with all four painted same color

Second? Green is the new neutral.....no law says you can't use linens from Garnet Hill, West Elm...there are many

Start with a rug, which will also add more color cues. Or even a chunky natural fiber jute! Go bold with a quilt!

( the walls and lack of commitment is making it harder for you.........)

Everyone seems to want to make more of a bed wall, than it already IS: ) Especially when the bed is beautifully dressed.
