Please help me decorate my dining room
Comments (17)Your new kitchen and DR spaces are so pretty! I can't offer anything as to the table, but just a word of caution about a bench. They seem to be trendy now and my son and DIL just bought a table and bench/chair set from CB for their new house. They had both sides of the family over for a housewarming and her brother (early 30's) said to me...under his breath....that the bench was very uncomfortable for a longer, family dinner. Think about it....how long would you be comfortable sitting at a picnic table on a hard bench with no back support? I say get nice chairs with upholstered seats....if you have kids you can always cover them with Sunbrella fabric for easier cleaning....See MorePlease help me decorate my living room and dining area
Comments (19)When it comes to hanging art, keep in mind those Velcro Command Strips. I use them to hang almost everything and they don't damage the walls. They hold a surprising amount of weight. That metal scrollwork would probably take one nail, but most artwork, unless the frames are really heavy, can be hung with the command strips. I'm not so sure the metal piece is "farmhouse." Rustic, probably. When I think farmhouse, though, I don't think of that type of piece. I think you can do better, but if you really LOVE it, then go for it! I do like the upholstered ottoman but I like yayagal's coffee table suggestion even better! It will definitely help set the farmhouse tone you want....See MoreNew apartment living room design/ decorating help
Comments (7)Thanks everyone... @Olychick, I was concern the TV would get nothing but glare from the windows with that configuration. The windows are on the west side and receive all the afternoon and evening light., which I like and use.. @decoenthusiate, I agree if I can manage to get a sectional and possibly updated chairs I may be able to use them as the focal point. Or the area rug first and built off it. Budget is around $1000 which is doable utilizing second hand market.... Once I work out the details; the style of pieces and color.... I can purchase items as they become available. Color and style of the pieces are what I am attempting to put together. Here are the dimensions For the sectional, I was considering something basic like this, with a sofa table behind...See MoreHelp decorating windowless apartment dining area!
Comments (3)If. you can narrow your color palette first, that might save time and money down the road. If this were my space, I'd look online for a mirror or a collection of mirrors that would reflect light from the nearest window. A set of botanical prints are classic and light, and you can buy the prints online and then buy the frames on Amazon or at Target. I agree with Sammie that you need rug and a new light fixture. I'm thinking if you want a cottage look that gold frames might not work. Look at thrift shops or Habitat for humanity stores for ceiling fixtures. Then check out the amazing YouTube videos demonstrating how to spray paint old fixtures into gorgeous new pieces. Wow!...See MoreRelated Professionals
