Bedroom - Ideas for rest of bedding etc. Trying to pull room toge
Comments (14)This may be a dumb question but are matelasse covers heavy? I was looking at some of those too but I never even heard that name before I came to the forum. I really don't know what I'm doing as far as trying to layer a bed. You can see the bedroom going in and out of the main bathroom so I'd like to get this room looking decent. My goal is to have all the rooms in order so the doors can stay open. lol Tina - Thanks for the suggestion. Deep down I knew the vellux wasn't probably very desirable all by itself. You're right about the solid cover and patterned folded down. I do like how people combine different fabrics but I don't really know what else would look right with it. Also don't know if that would really be for me, iykwim. I did a search for the pick stitch and I like how it looks. I'm thinking either the white or sandalwood would be best. I'm leaning towards white but would that end up being too stark? You're saying you'd also get the pick stitck shams? Do you sleep on those type of pillow cases? They're just for pretty right? I really need to get this room painted first. Going to get some samples and make this on my near future to do list. Here is a link that might be useful: pick stitch...See MoreSpare Bedroom: Need Bedding Ideas
Comments (54)Quick update and many, many thanks to everyone who offered ideas and suggestions: All bedding ordered on ebay, and all received. I ordered the RL comforter, top sheet, pillowcases and sham in the discontinued Putney pattern. The Sferra Bros. matelasse coverlet is also from ebay, another jynx find :) After spending hours in the two best Atlanta fabric houses (Lewis and Sheron and Forsyth Fabrics), I went to Lenox with my daughter and found the perfect---and I mean PERFECT---curtains at (of all places!) Pottery Barn Kids. We were there looking for a present for my nephew! $80 per panel for 96" length, lined curtains that can be used with drapery pins or directly on the pole. (I stuck them up on a rod I had around just to see what they'd look like.) At Ballard Designs Backroom I found a large mirror with useful hooks on both sides (this will have to be hung by our handyman) and a tall corner shelf. Both had minor scratches and were about 1/2 off. I brought up from the summer kitchen downstairs a table my mother had given me years ago, made of blue and white pottery shards, and brought up an extra Parsons chair to replace the kitchen French Country kitchen chair. I found the tan windowpane slipcover at Ballards, also. Two wall-mounted, swing-arm lamps have been ordered in antique brass for either side of the bed, and I am still looking for a candle lantern in dull brass to go on the right side of the armoire (to replace the clock) and another painting or print for the wall that joins that corner at right angles. Also looking for blue/white porcelain finials in a round ball shape for the wall lamps, and plan to unearth my Christmas plates and hang them this weekend! the table I already had:...See MoreNeed Help with Master Bedroom Bathroom/Bedroom Layout - 1970s house
Comments (5)I like my first idea best as far as use of space. I know people say not to put toilets on an outside wall. We had one in our last house in Iowa, but we had 2X6 construction. I don't know how high your window is, but I'm guessing the toilet would fit under there. The shower would be 5 feet long or shorter if you want a wider space to get to the toilet. (kind of tight the way I have drawn). You could do a 5 and half foot long shower and do an angled door at the left end to allow room between the shower and toilet. The vanity would be about 7 feet long, unless you do a 60 inch vanity with a linen cabinet at the door. I would reverse entry door swing if you do that.. The second top right could work and you would still have a small closet. The bottom left plan would require waterproofing your front window. Hopefully someone will give you other ideas. The bottom right plan is bigger, but no closet. Each square equals 1 foot....See MoreMaster Bedroom- Please Help choose bedding & window treatments!
Comments (21)Cobalt blue is a gorgeous color but the walls +the gray headboard + the tan matchstick shades + multiple shades of blue doesnt equal a cohesive sum. Since the wall paint is fresh and pretty and since you like the grey headboard, consider sticking with fewer colors repeated in more elements and then add just one shade of blue as your proverbial pop? The photos that deco added are so pretty partly because they stick closely to plan....See MoreRelated Professionals
