We are having a delightfully cool day today. I opened the windows, get some fresh air in Aaaahhhhh. Almost need a sweater. I love it.

My windows were open today too. Right now it is 67. My husband remarked that he needed long sleeves. What a welcome change but temps will be back up to 88 by the end of the week.

Here in the great plains of the midsouth, in other words, central Oklahoma, we've been under excessive heat warnings all week. Opening the windows would be borderline insanity.

In the whole month of July, we never were in the 60s for the OVERNIGHT temps. So the day my daughter takes me to a spa day in Hershey with lunch at the outdoor pools after our body / facial massages,the high is 67! After all that upper-90s heat I won't complain. The pool water was warm. And the AC is off for the first time since early June,

We were in the upper 60's today, mostly cloudy. Supposed to get down to 60 tonight! It's so nice to sleep under a blanket with the windows open. I'm tired of refrigerated air. We had an unually hot summer.

Heat index here from 10:15a to current (8:20p) ranged from 100°F to 108°F. A/C is currently cycled off (77°F setpoint) ........... it's back on.

it's cool enough to open the windows, which i did. closed them all 30 minutes later and turned the a/c back on, the humidity is 90% right now and is downright oppressive.

It’s 56F here, pretty cold. But next week will be in the high 80’s.

Black Forest CO, it got to 83F, then rained, now it's 60F....and dropping. We're supposed to get rain the next 2 days.

Unusually cool here in north Missouri with 62° at 7 a.m. My brother-in-law and his wife from Oklahoma are here visiting and they are basking in our coolness.

59 right now here on LI with a high of 74 predictef. I love this break from the heat but it’s not the greatest day for it. I’m watching a kid this afternoon, was hoping to just throw her in the pool. Probably a bit cool for that.

Mid 50's here this morning...Brrrrr....plus a coolish week ahead in the 70's/low 80's. It's nice to have a sweat break. Will start planting the fall crops today with carrot, turnip, and collard seeds. Broccoli & Cabbage transplants to follow. Enjoy it now, they're not so lucky down in Tx.

I was sitting on my screened porch awhile ago and got chilly so i came inside. Its very breezy which makes a big difference. Its 73 right now. Such a lovely day. We’re back to summer weather soon.

My condolences to you still baking in the heat. We sure had plenty of it this summer.

Well, it was so nice earlier today, even early afternoon. Almost chilly. Well, not anymore. Was out pulling weeds and although it is only 75, it felt like 85. It will cool down, though.

It was a cool one here today, I think 70 -71 around 11am. I wore cotton capris and today a long sleeve t-shirt when mowing the yard down front. Did some other yard work. I even had the house opened up, screen door, windows, for some fresh air.

Now this evening I'm feeling a little chilled. I'm even thinking of reaching for the throw to snuggle under.

100+ with heat indexes above 110. Its basically hell's front door.

At least some of you get cool/crisp Fall air at some point. Our temps can stay pretty high past October. Gotta be careful with any pumpkin displays outside for Halloween and Thanksgiving. They’ll start to cook if left in the sun.

Supposed to get up to 89 tomorrow and in the low 90s over the weekend. I really don't want to turn my air back on.

Its amazing how the weather affects your energy. Humidity just saps the life out of me. Today was perfect weather. I got so much yard work done, cleaned some junk out of my garage, and talked to a bunch of neighbors. I met someone’s new dog, who was so sweet. She’s a rescue from a puppy mill, used for breeding. She is the happiest little thing.

Except for the trees not yet ready to turn color, it could certainly be mistaken for fall here. There has been a big shift in our weather in the last 2 weeks and lately it has been cool and cloudy and we have even had a couple of thunderstorms and a good downpour or two. It is as warm right now (65F, nearly 5 pm) as it was when I got up just before daylight. It is that lack of any morning crispness that tells me fall is not here yet....but is on its way.

I even made a batch of chili today!

We should be back into the mid 70's and with sunny skies next week. A few more weeks of summer left........

Unusual weather pattern for August here. Cool and misty in some areas. Barometric pressure really does a number on my Meniere's. Went to ride today and after a half hour or so I felt sorry for my horse. She was taking care of me instead of the other way around so I got off and promised her tomorrow will be better. Came home and slept some of it off. My head feels like an Weeble toy during the transition.

Oooh, chili sounds good! But I'm just not quite ready for that yet, nor stews or the like. It's warming up a little today and is supposed to be close to 90 over the weekend and into early next week, which for some of you isn't "hot" but us in the Great Lakes, it is, made all the more miserable by the high humidity. I'm with dedtired -- the humidity really does suck the life out of me. I don't want to put the air back on, either but might have to if it ends up being as humid as they're predicting.

Gardengal, I made a 16 bean soup yesterday. (15 bag plus a handful of my own Jacob's cattle beans from my garden). Leaves are falling off my trees already.

I had to turn the air back on for Chewie today.

My persimmons are starting to ripen on the tree!

Our few days of below temps since God knows when will end and now the heat begins again with nothing but sun and no rain so the drought will rear its ugly head again.

I mowed Wednesday, but with the deck on 4", hopefully the grass won't dry out again from the high temps predicted next week for us too. Actually, beginning Sunday. At least the grass won't grow (much).

It got down to 71° this morning, which is quite chilly for here. High temps for today and tomorrow are supposed to be 101 and 102°, which is cool for here. Humidity is 9 to 15%, and the pool temp yesterday was down to 89°, which is an ideal temperature for me, but when I heat the pool, I heat it to 87°. Over 90° is too hot for the pool.

Today, because of the cool morning, the pool cooled down to 86°.

Kathsgrdn, we have leaves falling too, but it is more because of the drought conditions I think. I've gotten measurable rain in my yard only 3 times since July first - several times storms approached, then dissipated as they crossed into my suburb, or kind of divided and went north and south of me.

I really enjoyed the fall feeling the past several days - but now we are back into the 90s. Very unusually hot and dry summer here! I was driving from Columbus to Cleveland 2 weeks ago and the cornfields looked about half as tall as I would have expected.

Raee, I think we've been dryer than normal here too. I do water my garden and although my tomatoes haven't done the best this year, my eggplant and peppers are huge and producing like crazy.

Fall is over here and we are back to 100+ heat indexes until 8/29 and then 2nd fall starts. I did get 1.5" of rain yesterday morning which was nice.

School has started here. I remember wanting to wear my new clothes back when that happened after Labor Day, but it was always too hot. Our little flirt with 'Cool and Dry' is over. Back to 'Hot and Humid'. The only 'Dry' is for precip. Many trees are not only dry, but topmost leaves are turning from summer's cicada boom. (After mating, cicadas crawl up trees and slit small branches to lay eggs.)

Another cicada-related problem is the increased volume of mites that feed on cicada 'remains'. The mites don't fly, but are carried by the breeze. We're told to stay out from under trees and to shower after being outdoors -- to wash off any mites. They feed on skin cells, causing itching and leaving nice red welts.
