Will a round coffee table work in here?
Comments (3)And I appreciate it. :) Pros, cons & opinions are exactly what I'm looking for. Alternately, we've also talked about padded square/rectangular seating, like an ottoman table. Or no coffee table, since there's a sofa table and each piece has a side table....See MoreCoffee Tables Round or Square???
Comments (15)Linda c, there are so many facets to design that don't just involve "acquiring" items. While I love pieces that make me happy, I also want the room to be pleasing to the eye. Design is an art form and with that I follow both principles and elements of design that were part of my formal education in design school. These are more scientifically based and exists through all genres of design. In this case of coffee tables, we explore the concept of Variety. If there is lack of variety, then a space feels flat and when a space has too much variety, then it lacks unification. I know that it's really dissecting the elements but I think that when people pay closer attention to these subtle nuances, then I think their space reflects it....See More~Square lights above a round table?
Comments (1)I would not do a hanging light there, its kind of strange as it is. If you put something that sits up in the coffer it might look better. Im mostly confused at why keep the recessed area at all but if it was me I would do a semi-flush that sits up in there rather than hang something that really is not centered to anything. Sheet rock it and put in the outlet so it falls over the table. https://marianahome.com/collections/glam/products/swindell-5-light-semi-flush-mount https://www.overstock.com/Lighting-Ceiling-Fans/Rashawn-Antique-Bronze-4-Light-Semi-flush-Mount-with-Crystal-Shade/22290284/product.html...See MoreWould you use a square coffee table or round?
Comments (15)It’s not easy to update just one piece, but I think the table is a good choice. It‘s certainly not too heavy, feels more modern and light and will connect with your furniture. I wouldn’t add strong pops of color just for color sake, as you mentioned you like neutrals. There are so many ways to add interest by layering, texture, pattern, art. You could change rug to a less busy design with colors that better help pull the space together and be sure it includes creamy white to complement/bring out coffee table’s surface. Look for updated cushions, combining solids and patterns and accessorize coffee table. There is a lot of helpful information on Pinterest. The accessories and style of rug below would be lovely in your room, a nice refresh. Could also consider redoing shelving and again reference Pinterest for ideas....See MoreRelated Professionals
