Lovely! I like the classic white tile and porcelain and how you used furniture pieces in the bathroom. I love that the storage at the end of the tub has pull-outs that can be reached from the toilet. Your custom sink and backsplash and counter are unique and beautiful. Yours may be the first bathroom sink I have seen in which a small or medium dog could be washed! That is a good thing! I showed your pictures to my DH because I am thinking of classic tiled walls with a chair rail for when we redo our bath in a couple of years. He liked it! I was expecting him to say, "too old fashioned." He did not, he said it looked nice. From him, nice is a compliment. He even liked your rows of listello. I was just at the Tile Shop's site the other day looking at the Hampton tiles because someone was selling some on Craigslist. I am hoping to do as you did and get what I can cheaper there, and fill in the rest from the store. I can see that you worked very hard to secure all of your materials - and then cut the floor tiles to size and culled the Hampton tiles, too! You succeeded very well in getting the look you wanted while saving money along the way. Congratulations, and thank you for the pictures and great detail and supply list.

In the meantime, take a look at Pottery Barn's bath cabinets. They're in the bath section under floor storage. The apothecary floor storage is 19" w x 16"D x 60" H. Also look at the sundry tower and Newport sundry cabinet. There's also stacking modular units where you can configure drawers, door cabinets, and open shelves with baskets to meet your needs. The sundry cabinets and modulars are 36" H, giving you a surface to set out a make-up bag, blow dryer, etc. while in use. Some have a pull-out shelf too. If you were to have a cabinet made, I'd model after the Stuart Storage cabinet and hutch. That's 20" w x 15" D. The glass uppers keep it light and airy. I'd at least do a glass front and a base with drawers. I'd want it to look like all one piece, not stacked cabinets. I would keep the lines simple and vintage with inset drawers. On these PB pieces, the feet are the only ornamentation. As for size, a folded towel is only about 12" x 15". You need room for TP. Most of everything else you store in a bathroom will fit in a small drawer. You'll need to carry in your cleaning supplies. Can you tell I considered doing a pedestal sink in our MB? I would have had room for two cabinets though. I don't see room for a hand towel. Apologies for delayed reply on these! Thanks for all of your responses. @littlebug - We would be keeping this house for our future kids to inherit and/or for use as a rental/AirBnB. We are also planning on using the equity to fund future real estate investments as it grows, since this area is by the water and the land value has historically only increased here, despite the bubble collapse in past years. Not contradictory statements, but one wouldn't know that without the background information. @hcbm - I don't have kids yet, so I don't have a frame of reference, but isn't filling an inflatable tub commensurate with filling a normal tub? Are you speaking to the inflatable part? @Karenseb - It IS a huge shower - I think it was originally a steam room, but it doesn't function that way anymore. Glass wall is a great idea. @North Texan - YIKES, I have no idea where the access is. The tub is completely tiled around. I can only guess that it must be underneath in the crawl space. We have the same issues you describe; black bits floating no matter how much I clean it. It's awful, but it is free since it's what we currently have, and it is not a big one. I like your idea of the pony wall and I REALLY like the idea of the outlet in the makeup area. @Sigrid - Do you regret keeping it? Is it for the same reason that concerns me, that losing a tub will have an impact on resale?

Well, moving the wall between the bathrooms gets into a lot of plumbing moving...so my thought: 1) Expand the "Master" Shower by taking most (a little over half) of the two closets and adding length (and a little width) to the shower, maybe with a nice bench on the outside wall, or the corner. This will probably require moving the drain, but since you're moving the shower plumbing anyway, shouldn't be too much more. With the shower widened a bit too, it'll be much more comfortable. 2) Make a single, shallow, dual sliding door closet off the hallway, since the master suite is already contained behind the invisible door. This will allow towel storage and easily match the storage you are losing in the actual in that bathroom closet. 3) Depending on how much you widen the shower, perhaps move the door slightly to the left to give more room in front of the vanity without getting clobbered by the door. 4) Slightly lengthen the vanity toward the toilet, if possible...but if those are 6" tiles, you are close to already at the minimum of 18" off center for the wall and vanity. 5) What is the blank area on the outside wall end of the bathtub? If it's space, lengthen the tub/shower a bit and/or make a little storage.
