Food strainer brands - birthday wishes

last modified: 5 months ago

So my birthday is next week - and I have been asking for gift ideas ideas. I thought this morning about a food strainer/sieve.

While I had a mediocre blueberry harvest blackberries have had a great year. I have frozen more than I need for the winter and am still picking. Got two stings on my nose by a blackberry loving hornet this morning. I look like I got punched.

A few days ago I pureed some mixed berries to make a granita. I attempted to strain out the seeds with a Foley - no dice. And then with cheese cloth - sooo painfully slow and messy.

Also salsa and sauce season is coming up.

First I was thinking a chinois but I think a strainer would have more uses. I have an old Foley. I borrowed a neighbor’s Victorio in the past and it was better than my Foley. I read some reviews - while all of these look finicky some seem better than others. Does Does anyone have the Johnny’s version? I am leaning towards Johnnys because they are local to me and employ several friends and family. Do you have a different one that you love or hate? I put food away but on a small scale. I like tools that are long lasting whenever possible.

BTW I really dislike items being rebranded by a seller so I can’t look for reviews based on the model.
