elephant ear black magic help

I have a very happy black magic elephant ear that has been divided a few times and now the mother plant has these long runner things sticking up out of the soil. Two have what appear to be leaves about to unfurl at the very tips. What do I do with these runners? Three are so long (over 10”), I don’t know what part to cover with soil and what part to leave out. Do I cut them off with roots? I also need advice on how to overwinter all of the ones I have in pots. I live in North Central Alabama. I do not have anywhere to bring these inside to overwinter unless sticking them in a dark crawl space under the house will work. Can I overwinter them outside? Will a one of those inexpensive pvc greenhouses work to keep them alive? Thx in advance!!
