I'm going to warn against the sticky traps. Once you've come across a few butterflies, bird feathers, and worst of all, a struggling anole, you'll never use them again. The University of California recommends the removal of infested foliage and the use of fairly strong sprays of water to the underside of infested leaves. The former method was reported to be more successful than chemical treatments. It's worth noting that there are many predators and parasites of these whiteflies....all the more reason to avoid using those sticky traps (which will catch ladybugs, parasitic wasps, and other beneficials).

I see environmental stress on the rhodie, maybe salts in the soil. The jasmine might have something fungal on it, can't say if it is a secondary infection from pic. Other two, Photobucket annoying this morning and only scrolled through, but I see environmental stress on viburnums too. You'll want to think about if you are overfertilizing, not enough/too much water, sudden weather changes, poorly drained soil, etc. That's what I got out of a quick look between too many Photobucket FUBARs and I closed window. Could be eggs of the Imported Cabbageworm or Cabbage Looper. 4. Might be Powdery Mildew. 5. Unidentifiable from that picture. 6. Unidentifiable from that picture. 7. Could be the Imported Cabbageworm or Cabbage Looper. Early control of these cabbage pests involves the use of Bacillus thuringinsis - Kurstaki with Spinosad for later stages. The pyrethrums are very broad spectrum poisons that should be used only as a last resort.

Hi Everyone, I appreciate the input. So apparently I wasn't paying enough attention to the weather--we had another heat wave and the plants are heavily wilting in the afternoons. It's hard for me to say if the leaf damage is the result of the heat or the small bug--I'm guessing it's the heat. I'm going to keep watching this and see how things develop. I also looked up our County Extension office and might head over there as well. Thanks again!
