Help with installing a yard hydrant far from the source

Hi all,

I've read a bunch on this topic here so I think I have a pretty decent idea of what to do, just need some assistance on how to do it.

I need to install a yard hydrant about 550 feet from the source well. This will be the main hydrant and I'll have 4 or so other hydrants connected to this one but the distances to those won't be greater than 200 feet. These hydrants would also only be used one at a time. It would be very rare for two to be on at the same time.

After a bunch of research, I think 2 inch poly pipe is probably the way to go so I don't lose pressure over that distance. From what I've read, 1 inch and 3/4 inch would be too small. If I'm wrong about this, feel free to let me know.

The issue I'm running into is my yard hydrant (Woodford Y34) has a 3/4 inch female inlet. I've searched far and wide and can only find adapters/reducers to go from 3/4 to 1 inch. Even then, I can't find any to go from 1 inch to 2 inch.

So my two questions are:

1. Do I actually need 2 inch poly or can I get away with using 1 inch?

2. If I need 2 inch, how can I get from the 3/4 female inlet to the 2 inch poly pipe?

Thanks
