Help! Picking kitchen cabinet colors, need help with off-white/creams
Comments (14)Aw man, thanks for the comments guys! After being in this house with small kids for eight years, the cabinets are showing wear and there is quite a bit of water damage on many of them and some are broken (didn’t show you that photo!). So...that was where my head was at with going ahead and painting the cabinets. They are already priming today so this is a done deal! In my area, painting cabs is still a big thing (we might steer behind the times a little) and a big thing people look for in resale (we could be moving in a couple years). Honestly, it might not be trendy but I still love my granite! It hides stuff so well and never looks dirty. And I never even notice my backsplash and I just don’t care that much about it. It’s hard for me to warrant changing something just for cosmetic reasons (counter and backsplash) versus need (cabs). We got an amazing deal on the painting so I feel good about it. I’m going full steam with Antique White. After looking at it forever and being in complete decision making paralysis, that’s what I’m going with! I’m going with brass/gold knobs to add a little bit of funky and I have lots of Anthropologie-esque and plants to add character. I have a very open floor plan with my living room right there in all it’s colorful glory, so I’m thinking the lighter will look nice. I’ll be happy to post a pic when I’m done. Thanks for listening!!...See MoreHelp choosing kitchen cabinet color around fridge w/two tone cabinets
Comments (46)I like both but do favor the lighter for now. I thought about herringbone but decided on brick lay as you see from my pic. I chose that bc I also picked a tonal tile with 3 shades for texture & interest wo being too busy (see pic) & chose grout to match tile not counter. My tile is 2 1/2” x 5”, Ztile Melange, Green Tea color. Looks gray! My advice to pass along on picking BS is to ”wait until the countertops are installed”! I’m so glad I did. I .read that over & over from Houzz Pros too. I took the advice to heart bc the person at countertop company told me to just wait! I had narrowed my choice down to 2, which it looks like you have done. Once tops were in I did a 180 change on BS tile I’d decided on & went with my second choice. And I was looking at multiple pieces of the 2 tiles to get a better idea. A surprise to me for sure that I changed. All of those whose opinions I’d solicited also seemed amazed at difference in look sitting on top of new counter. And, I solicited opinions from every trades person in my kitchen as well as friends & neighbors! 99% of them changed their pick after counters in too. Reason is that until counter is in, you’re looking at a small sample and a huge vertical slab. Light hits the counter very differently on the horizontal & in your home light. The BS tile as well. So, make sure both of your picks are available on quick turnaround & just wait. BTW, at this point, my pick for you is lighter tile Bc I Like it better with darker cabinets & tile will be right next to cabinet color next to frig. When I look at BS my eye goes down not up so I see base cabs more. Love your counter & cab together....See MoreHelp W/ kitchen cabinet color!!
Comments (3)To be honest I would not spend the money on having those cabinets painted the base ones should all be drawers now and there is no need for thos clunky legs for the island overhang also what is the finish on those cabinets now ? The Edison bulbs are a no go in any space and especially in a kitchen where true color is a must before choosing even wall color let alone cabinet color . All the lighting needs to be LED 4000K to start. .That backsplash is a very dated look so maybe even changing that will have a huge impact if you are not willing to do new kitchencabinets which BTW will cost as much as having all those cabinets professionally painted. IMO save until you can do this right and go now to get some extra flooring to have on hand...See MoreHelp with Kitchen Cabinet Color/Countertop: Warm V. Cool.
Comments (1)WOW this is some mood board Usually I do mood boards with the choices I have made not a zillion of them . I never like black appliances they almost always have a weird finish the suck light and honestly the color of black changes over the years and just about the time the fridge dies there is no black to match the rest . IMO plain old stainless is still the best choice for appliances and it allows you to get appliance from different makers so you get what you need for how you use them. I dislike plastic quartz for counters and a bit of info as to why gray for cabinets is always helpful. Pot fillers are IMO a silly addition they make really no sense since the pot still needs to be carried with boiling water to the sink . I think if ayou would use the pot filler everyday then plan the kitchen with a sink near the range a much more practical idea. Where is your KD in this design and please do not use a cabinet salesperson to design your kitchen . So befor e a mood board a good kitchen design using all the appliances you already have bought so you can design around them . My advice have them in the garge before starting since supply is an issue for sure right now and I like to have them in hand when I start a design....See MoreRelated Professionals
