Mocha is the colour I show on the bottom left, that colour doesn't coordinate at all with your kitchen flooring tiles. However, black does and would look fantastic with the white quartz countertop you're considering (shown on the right with your floor tiles).

I know you don't want white but perhaps you'd consider a cream colour which would work with your black countertop and backsplash from what I can tell from you photo.

a dull brown [neutral undertone] can work with white. try white uppers and that brown for lowers, if you like it...I would say a DOSE of it is something you can work with...but avoid drenching the entire kitchen in that.

heres a brown but the space has natural light/ cabinets with stacked detail and glass doors/ you have to be careful w your windowless space and more basic cabinets that you have. 2nd pic..see how lighter on the walls keeps the space more fresh and bright.....think about that.

The mocha colour shown above you're considering doesn't really work with your furniture either.

You have a monochromatic theme going on but everything is in the same intensity of colour with no contrast. There's nothing wrong with a monochromatic theme but with this design approach you need a smart use of neutral elements and well-balanced contrasts to prevent monotony. In other words, you need to bring in a mix of lighter tones to make all that brown stand out.

Here's a very small adjustment to your dining room...

A bouquet of fresh flowers in your vase, a light linen table runner, and side drapes for texture on your windows.

Leave the cabinets alone! They are the best part about the whole house. Warm woods are back, and coordinate those warm woods with warm whites, and greens. Those always look spectacular together. The unfortunate pink travertine floor would be the first thing to change, if you want to change things.

Do you think changing black granite to white quartz can help? I just do not like red cabinets 🤷🏼‍♀️

the eye level wall cabinets then are probably the problem if its simply a matter of you dont like the reddish. I think you could change the counters and paint the uppers only and have a completely different look. the emphasis will no longer be on the reddish if they are only under the new counter....it really just depends on the money you have to allocate to this and the details you are willing to work on like counter/backsplash/ new hardware/ better lighting both under cabinet and ceiling. Start with potential big ticket changes on down to details you would use to personalize the space and get things coordinated . You'll be spending so create some changes that are worth it and please you. many people would leave the reddish and upgrade with details.....its certainly okay to have personal likes/dislikes .

note how the reddish stain does not dominate when mixed w other colors on surfaces and they placed new glass doors on....nice with no windows in a space.......you could do that....

White quartz absolutely will not go with the pinky beige of the travertine floors. That's your most limiting finish in the kitchen, not the wood color. That's also one of the biggest and most expensive changes to make.

lisedv, I do love your suggestions very much. I am considering "full" backsplash/slab (not 3-5 inch) of the same quartz and countertops. Not tile. My kitchen and the whole house painted 2 y ago in BM Winds Breath so I can look for some complimentary warm white. Love brass hard wear as I recently changed dining room chandelier to brass. That's an excellent choice of paint colour you made to revive and update all the wood you have, it doesn't show in your photos but it's always difficult to go by with a photo on a computer.

The full quartz backspash is a good choice as well, I just didn't like the low one. Your on the right track, keep us posted once your renovation is completed.

If all your walls are painted in BM's Winds Breath, I would pick one of the 2 whites recommended to use with Winds Breath (either SW Pure White of BM Chantilly Lace). I suggest you get those samples and look at them in your house with your wall colour, wood cabinets and floor.

Question: what paint ( name) would go well with white top cabinets ? In case, i need to update /paint lower cabinets ( not to restain in red). I am just exploring all options. Changing floor tile not an option now. Thank you.

Perhaps I misunderstood but I thought your walls, which have been recently painted, are in SW Winds Breath. So the above suggestions are paint colours for the cabinets that coordinate with your existing wall colour and the wood cabinets on the bottom. I think that the best of the 2 above suggestions is SW Pure White for the top cabinets. Of course you need to look at actual samples in your home at the same time you choose your quartz to make sure everything coordinates.

wow, they are shiny and red.. honestly think you can tone the whole deal to a better direction by adjusting just counters and backsplash and change your lighting, the lighting makes the red shiney plastic… you need some colors!

It’s hard to say without seeing the countertop but BM Kingsport Gray (it isn’t GRAY) is a great moderate and modern approach to brown!
