Bought furniture too big today help!
Comments (8)Our one son's bedroom is 10.5 x 11, and he has a dresser that is the same size yours is, as well as a queen bed, nightstand, and a desk that is 60x24, and an entertainment center. No, I am not saying it isn't crowded (and he isn't there all the time, being in college about 9 months of the year). The point is, that you should be able to fit in a dresser and crib or later a twin or full bed with no problem. I would not change the order until you take some newspaper and lay it out in the room, taped together in the size of the dresser. I would much rather have the longer, lower dresser for a young child. Picture them pulling opem drawers to use as a ladder to reach the higher drawers or top, and you'll see what I am thinking....See Morefireplace too big for room
Comments (5)It is not out of proportion to the room. But the current situation isn't doing justice to something that is often the focal point of a room. Try posting this on the Home Decorating forum. You will get ideas there for maybe rearranging the furniture, getting a larger area rug, and decorating above the mantel to show off the fireplace. Is that an electric fireplace? Can it be moved within the room?...See Morefireplace size too big?
Comments (5)I agree with others, the mantel should not be wider and the TV should be lower. So, here's how I see it coming together. Fireplace Mockup: Stacked stone with rustic beam mantel and Craftsman Custom Fireplace Door in Forged Iron. You can bring the stone down over the black metal at the top of the fireplace, which will allow you to lower the mantel height significantly, which in tern allows you to lower the TV by about 6" or 8". If you have pictures of the actual stone and mantel you are considering, you can post them here and I may be able to create a mockup with those materials. Comments (6)Hard to say with certainty not seeing the room, but my first impression is no, it won’t be too big. I’m sure I’ll be the only responder who thinks this. ;) That’s not to say it won’t look big, it will. But I’m thinking of rooms in Europe — no closets — smaller rooms that have to have wardrobes this size or bigger. And they still work. I have an armoire in nearly every bedroom and love them. I’d at least try it and live with it a bit, as it might be something you’d regret getting rid of. It’s very nice....See MoreRelated Professionals
