Wall Decor Dilemma
Hello! I’m having trouble deciding what to put up on the blank wall of my sitting room. I’ve also attached the other side of the wall for reference. Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

8 months agolast modified: 8 months agoMove the art from the wall behind the chairs (it's not really needed there - there's a passage there) to the wall above the sofa. Considering the size of the art (it is too small), hang it not in the center, but on the left and add, for example, a pair of small frameless mirrors with non-standard smooth contours (but not a circle or an oval). Or instead of mirrors, 2 small light pieces of art. If you take a photo of the sofa without perspective distortion (straight), I will sketch out the location for you in Photoshop. Just try to fit as much space as possible on the sides of the sofa in the photo. It will also be helpful to get a photo of the entire room.
I also want to move the sofa, along with the tree and the table, a little to the right - it is too pressed against the window.
8 months agoI think you need one large piece above the sofa and the art on the opposite wall looks as if it could be perfect there. I would look for something like a tryptic or 3 related pieces to hang where the current large piece is. Since it's a bit like a hallway there, something you can pass by as a grouping would be perfect. I don't think you want two large pieces in both the spaces.

Comments (56)I like what judrand05 said. I'll add one caveat to the Philips Hue lights, the bulbs only go up to 800 Lumens. For larger rooms, 1000+ Lumens is better if you use fewer bulbs. Also, a ceiling light would typically create more light. I'd still try them, they are easy to return if they don't work for you. When my Uncle re-did their whole kitchen area they installed rows of high-intensity white LED lights on the ceiling. As a result, their house is as bright as day during the night. My aunt claims it helps her read at night as her eyesight is not as good. Been jealous of that light setup ever since :). Comments (8)Leaning ladder shelves are a trend that is pretty well on its way out, and was never a very good look. I'd opt for bookcases on each side; it will not matter if they're not symmetrical. Whatever you add above couch, I’d avoid adding just one piece and proportions are so important. Be sure to add cushions to tie in your rug and the art (adding a bit more color would be nice).

PRO5 months agoYou room looks wonderful. The only thing it feels like it might need is texture. You can add texture with textured pillows, textured artwork, textured rugs, etc. Below are some ideas on what type of artwork could work in your space. You could do a gallery wall, a textured piece of artwork over the sofa, or just one large painting that goes with the colors already in the room. Visual ideas are included below.

PRO4 months agoIt looks like you could easily do an art piece with silver, grey, white, gold, and black. You could also add pops of color in the artwork and add more pops of color via textured colorful pillows. You could do a triptych, 2 medium pieces, a gallery wall, or one large piece.
