Advice on protecting heat damage to quartz backsplash

I have white quartz on my backsplash for my commercial 48 inch gas KitchenAid range and oven. I cook a lot and it hasn’t been an issue thus far. Last night I was making two large pans of paella and one of the pan handles was really close to the quartz and it discolored some of the quartz. Not crazy and I can probably mostly hide it. However, I would like to avoid this issue in the future. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to add a protective layer behind the range?
